Earth Day 2016

Happy Earth Day! Guanaco Barcelona zoo

I’ve been meaning to post these photos for a while and Earth Day seems like the perfect time. Back in early March it was one of the those sunny winter afternoons. One where if you found a warm spot in the sun wrapped up nice and snug in your winter apparel, feeling the warm sun on your face, the air held a promise that winter will soon pass. All the animals at Barcelona Zoo that day who could find a sun spot to soak up the warm winter rays for some all important sun zzzzzzz were doing just that. Enjoy!

As many of you who read my posts regularly know everyday is Earth Day for me. We only have one planet in this vast universe called home that we know of. One that gives us so much. Yes, nature can be equally as cruel and destructive as it can be beautiful. Nature likes balance. Nobody likes their home destroyed. As Tesco, the great UK supermarket slogan says, every little helps! For more information on how to help keep our planet the blue planet, check out Earth Day and WWF and my Earth Day* post from last year for tips and advice to make every day an Earth Day!

*I’ll add The Life Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo to the list. By only having what you need and feel joy for in the house this transfers to many areas of your life. You begin to buy only what you need, not what you feel you must have. Clutter free equals less junk to recycle, reuse once you’ve gone through the initial decluttering process.

    1. Happy Earth Day too Miss T-rex to Tigress! Thank you! I do what I can, though I’m loosing brownie points as the cats have chicken. Vets orders and it’s that catch 22 situation. And I don’t think you can be 100% vegan anyway. You’ll be amazed where animal products end up!

  1. As a blogger friend I know you live out Earth Day everyday Natalie. And I have so much respect for you in that.

Great photos of the beautiful creatures at the Barcelona Zoo. They have such contentment as they soak up the warmth of the rays of the sun!

    Thanks for sharing! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I do my best. I loose lots of brownie points at the moment as I cook chicken for the cats. Vets orders and it’s that catch 22 situation.
The animals were happy that day, those that found some sun rays. Soon they’ll be reaching for the shade!
      Have a great week!

  2. I just did the ecological footprint test in the earth day website. I am basically screwed because I travel by plane more than 10 hours a year 😦

    1. Oh, I had chosen I travel by car every day because I was doing the test also thinking about my bf. If I take out the car (he is the one driving every day), then I am way better xD

      1. Jejejejeje! I see and like your way of thinking. But I don’t think it works that way. I bike everywhere but I don’t always take reusable bags. I end up paying lots of 5 cents, but I reuse them for recycling plastic. But I can’t see that cancelling everything out!

      2. The other day I read an article on the Guardian about people who produce zero trash. Their trash from one year can fit inside a jam jar! I was baffled. In China, everything has 3 or 4 layers of packaging (individually wrapped biscuits particularly get on my nerves).

      3. I’ve read about them! I don’t know how they do it. The supermarkets here insist on plastic bags for fruit and veg. You can’t weight products yourself here, you have to go to a person who ways it. Thankfully more people do it, but I used to have to say no bag for the pineapple price sticker. It’s got a tag on, so stick it on there! And yes, those individually wrapped biscuits get on my nerves too. There’s an egg, milk free chocolate biscuits I sometimes get, but they come in portions of 2! I think I got more annoyed they thought only 2 at a time 😉
