I’ve been on a plastic free, recycle less journey for about 2 years and whenever I come across plastic free alternatives I’m always happy to share them here.
While food packaging remains my number 1 plastic frenemy, it’s getting easier to find plastic free alternatives for a whole host of other items now more companies are either cashing in on the plastic free market or by companies launched as they were unable to find plastic free alternatives. Amazon is also becoming the place to find plastic free alternatives. In this blog post I’m sharing few of my recent finds. For previous Recycle Less posts please click on the Recycle Less page above. If the first half of April was quiet, the second half in comparison was action packed! Or for me it was.
April’s weather was more upside down than usual. Sometimes it’s a warm 22C, other times it’s chilly 16C. Mid April I’m usually in a denim jacket. This April, I was in a puffer jacket and thermal vest under T-shirts. Climate change? Winter was mild and sunny, April was windy with a few rainy days. For almost a week over Easter, grey skies, strong winds brought with them amazing waves making me appreciate sunny days. Continue reading “April Catch Up!”
We’ve all been there. Not shopped for a few days only to come back with items you’re left thinking why from impulse buys. Or got swayed by pretty packaging, offers or an online shopping basket where you can’t physically see the items to think about pennies, only to again to be asking why when you got back or excitedly opening the parcel.
Today I’m sharing tips I use to try to keep pennies in the bank account, stop unwanted items left unused then donated or thrown out. Try as I have my moments where all sanity left my brain. I know just don’t shop. It’s nice to look at things!
Ask yourself what mood you’re in. Have you not shopped for a few days, weeks and it’s I must satisfy spending need day? Is it a feel better buy? A quick fix purchase? The times I get caught up in this, 9 times out of 10 I’ve Continue reading “Smart Shopping”
This edition of Beauty Finds features oil cleansers, a toner and a sheet mask. As usual all products are cruelty free! It’s also the edition where I learnt a lesson reading ingredient lists.
When it comes to Beauty Finds I have a few requirements. Cruelty free, contain no animal ingredients (honey I’m okay with. I’m a bad vegan I eat honey but draw the line at bee venom, snail slime), contain no petroleum derived ingredients if I can help it. I’m okay with maybe 4th or 5th generation derived. This also covers silcone, PEGS. I also try to avoid SLS, parabens and other nasties if I can. With skincare it’s little easier to find more natural ingredients however make up I usually have Continue reading “Beauty Finds. Skincare Empties”
Happy Earth Day!
Protect Our Species is this year’s Earth Day theme. Everything in nature’s balanced and linked. I don’t have to tell you us humans have altered the balance and links causing climate change.
Bees, giraffes, great apes, coral reefs, whales, insects, elephants, sharks are just a few of the thousand of trees, plants, birds, animals, fish, crustaceans that could be wiped out this century due to climate change. No bees or insects to pollinate plants, no food for everyone. Bee’s are amazing insects. They dance to tell the hive Continue reading “Earth Day 2019”
