Some random photos of the first half of January 2024. Mostly of birds with some street scenes thrown in. There’s something about birds. Maybe it’s their large eyes or maybe it’s that they can just fly away.

Most were taken at the zoo, others the park or while shopping. Though the days were getting longer, winter’s golden light sparkled. The sun was reaching further into the house as the sun was still low in the sky, making some mornings magical and light later in the day golden crispy. January for light, could be my favourite month.

Light hitting fir/pine tree needles

Old tree, Parc de la Ciutadella. I’ve nearly finished reading The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben and I look trees now in awe. This tree has seen so much, like so many in the park.

Looks pretty, however the fungi’s probably eating away at the tree unless the tree can fight it off.

I’ve only seen Xoclatieria’s at the Feria de Abril or in rural towns so I was excited when one popped on my route back. I treated myself to churros for the first time ever. I’ve never thought I could have them being vegan, but I could! They were delicious. Freshly cooked. Another week, chips or patatas fritas were my treat. Sadly I think the van got vandalised as they packed up after month despite being busy. It brightened up the nights cycling back.

Sunset in the centre.

Can you believe these are the same pair of climbing shoes? The bottom shoe is after about 9ish months of indoor climbing. The other old left pair I wore a hole into the tip!
Thank you for making this far and for stopping by!

Only in January morning light.
