Stepping Out My Comfort Zone

I recently started listening to The Joe Rogan Experience podcast with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Jean Jacques Machado. Jean Jacques Machado mentioned that much of their training was how it transferred outside of training. This got me thinking how indoor bouldering and climbing after a year and a half has transferred away from the climbing wall.

Indoor bouldering and climbing, no shit isn’t a martial art, yet many elements are similar. Repetition, confidence, practice, breathing, trusting your instincts, understanding why’s, timing, reactions, strength, flexibility, balance, agility, coordination and of course fun. With each climbing grade or level comes new challenges. Sometimes it’s a new move or in my case more heel and toe hooks, another layer of strength but most of the time it’s breathing, believing in yourself to let go of the good hold for the hold you’re doubting you can make. When you finally make the commitment, usually you’ve got it. If you miss and fall, well, you’ve had falling lessons, try not to alter Continue reading “Stepping Out My Comfort Zone”

Smart Shopping

We’ve all been there. Not shopped for a few days only to come back with items you’re left thinking why from impulse buys. Or got swayed by pretty packaging, offers or an online shopping basket where you can’t physically see the items to think about pennies, only to again to be asking why when you got back or excitedly opening the parcel.

Today I’m sharing tips I use to try to keep pennies in the bank account, stop unwanted items left unused then donated or thrown out. Try as I have my moments where all sanity left my brain. I know just don’t shop. It’s nice to look at things!

Ask yourself what mood you’re in. Have you not shopped for a few days, weeks and it’s I must satisfy spending need day? Is it a feel better buy? A quick fix purchase? The times I get caught up in this, 9 times out of 10 I’ve Continue reading “Smart Shopping”

February Catch Up Tails

Happy Belated Lunar New Year!

It’s been a crazy few weeks, I don’t know even where to begun saying Hi.

Mr D the cat and I are gradually adjusting to not having Mr Aj his brother around. Aj aka Angelous said his last see you laters a little over 2 weeks ago. The place is quiet, tears are now making way for happy AJ smiles Continue reading “February Catch Up Tails”

See Ya Later Mr Aj!

I have no idea how to start this post. I said my final see you later in my arms to Mr Aj aka Angelous Sunday 10th February.

I’d like to say he went peacefully in my arms, but I think he had a seizure. A little over 3 weeks ago his behaviour changed. I don’t know if it was a seizure or age related. He started not being able to see properly, then he started walked around with his head so low he couldn’t see in front of him. He wouldn’t rest from the Thursday before he went. The only time he did was in my arms. Something he’s never done. Continue reading “See Ya Later Mr Aj!”

Intentions 2019

Happy New Year!

Sunset 1st Jan 2019

I hope you had an amazing time celebrating the New Year whether you were sleeping, partying or like me celebrating New Year’s Day soaking up the sun at the beach!

Like Christmas, ringing in the New Year was low key. Thanks to TVE1 en directo on my phone, the cats and I rang in the New Year watching the ball drop in Puerta de Sol Madrid snugged up warm. I just just managed to eat all 12 grapes in before the 12 campanadas finished. Just. Does having 1 or 2 left mid chew as you try to avoid choking on grape juice count?

I’m more New Year’s day than New Year’s Eve. I like to see the sunrise rise Continue reading “Intentions 2019”
