March 2022. Part 2

The waves in second part of March were amazing. The air most days by the beaches was heavy with sea spray and the colour of the sea muddy green turquoise as it flashed breaking waves . And so so windy. I was on time for most things thanks to a tail wind from non stop storms! Cycling backI sometimes questioned my sanity as the wind never eased up.

There were more goslings or baby geese in Parc de la Ciutadella. More of them later! First those waves…

March 2022. The Long Month Part 1

I keep saying March this year was windy and grey yet looking back it was sunny! Sunny and cold! The second half was grey and cold making it a long grey cold month. All month long it was windy making the light on sunny days so clear and so bright.

Spring was saying hello with goslings in Parc de la Ciutadella. It was cuteness overload as I thing 4 geese families had chicks.

Weekend Friday Favourites

Happy Friday! Spring’s finally here!

Winter returned earlier this week which was weird as the light didn’t match the temperature. Yesterday it was around 21C when Monday it was around 10C. I hoping I can finally put away my winter coat for a few seasons. It’s nice to be in lighter weight colours and layers.

Little Dinosaur

Last week was a slow week for favourites hence no Weekend Friday Favourites. This week I have enough to share things that have made me smile or caught my eye recently!

More Goslings!

This week I saw 2 more geese families! A family of 3 goslings and a family of 2 goslings! That makes a total of 7 baby geese in the park as I’ve seen another family recently with 1 chick. Sadly the family of 5 chicks lost 4. I swear nearly everyone that sees them cries out in awe!

Jasmine

Almost over night some of the many Jasmine bushes in the parks and along the beaches flowered! Jasmine is one of my favourite flower scents along with lilac. I smelt them before I saw them as the flowers seem smaller this this year. The scent is heavenly!

Karina More Facial Cupping Challenge

I recently reviewed Karina More’s Face Building Marathon that I’ve been doing for over a year and shared her newly released book to accompany the course. In May she’s releasing her 2nd course on facial cupping. For now the course is whatever price you wish to pay. From May onwards it’ll be a fixed price to be confirmed. Facial cupping can help amongst many things, reduce edema and body fat, detox, improve blood circulation, revive capillaries and recover collagen fibres. To be honest she had me at boosting collagen so I’m all signed up and have my cups ready.

Project Light: Cute Parakeets

Most of these were taken on the same day in mid January 2022. I think I missed the zoo and didn’t want to go back until it got dark. The light was good, the ducks and parakeets were on the snack hunt and it was warm in the sunshine huddled in layers. Christmas lights while not on were still up looking like spider webs. The light was great for for seeing architecture detail too!

Don’t let the sunny light deceive you, it was cold!

While the geese rule the park, everybody as in the water fowl gets out the way for the white ducks. They’re not afraid to go after any duck, seagull or goose that annoys them.

Everybody gets out the way for the white ducks!
PAAAN!

Black headed gulls winter in Barcelona and can be found in Parc de la Ciutadella. As they can take off almost like helicopters they compete for the pan or bread quicker than the ducks. You can see the ducks and geese flinch when they dive around them to get the pan/bread, but will happily if lunge and nip at them if they can. Otherwise they just swim off leaving the humans to feed the seagulls. Black headed gulls are also amazing at catching bread in mid air! I think it’s mostly teenage guys that winter here.

Weekend Friday Favourites

Happy March!

This was a short and sweet Weekend Friday Favourites this week of things that have made me smile or caught my eye this week. Then I got typing. Uh Oh! This week’s been all over the place however my phone’s cracked screen finally fixed, a tooth’s fixed and a few other appointments over with. And with that, things I’ve been liking this week!

Fresh Ginger Tea

I have P to thank for this! Travelling last month my allergies started playing up, we’d been cooped up in aeroplanes, so P decided in addition to hot lemon in the mornings, fresh ginger tea to help keep our immune systems up. While I put fresh ginger in my salads for the same reason I wasn’t initially keen on the taste. Now I find myself craving ginger tea in the evenings! It’s so easy to make. Chop off a piece of ginger, cut of the skin, chop up the ginger, place in mug, add hot water!

Kitsch Satin Sleep Scrunchies

I have a confession. I did get the real deal silk scrunchies from Sephora. Then vegan guilt came over me and I couldn’t find if the company let the silk worm live and accepted broken strands or boiled the worm in its cocoon alive for unbroken silk strands. I felt so bad I returned them. Unworn of course. On holiday swept up in the larger amount of choice available, I found Kitsch scrunchies in Wholefoods, knowing full well, vegan silk means polyester, they’re in plastic packaging and I’m trying to reduce my plastic. That includes packaging, clothes, however I live in leggings and sweatshirts, hello plastic microfilaments in the water system. I can’t always win. I know, excuses! I did intend to taken them back for this reason but didn’t get time. Silk is meant to be kinder to skin and hair. With silk pillows, the silk doesn’t absorb all your night beauty products and doesn’t rough up skin like cotton does, which can help fight, soften, lessen pick your choice, wrinkles. Same with silk in the hair. It doesn’t break strands. I’ve been using scrunchies for a while and appreciate with fine long hair removing them, Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”
