Weekend Friday Favourites

I hope you’re having a great last weekend of August! I don’t know about you, but growing up as soon as September started, Summer over. Back to school around the 9th September. This way of thinking kinda stuck until I moved to Spain. It took a few years to really understand how the seasons work compared to the UK. Here the Solstices and Equinoxes more or less run with the seasonal changes with a week or 2 difference. It’s like someone just switches the temperature no warning. And true Brit I start with the weather!

Anyways, Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have made me smile or caught my eye this week (warning it’s a little on the animal side). Feel free to add your own in the comments!  (more…)

Eye Test, Heatwave and Full Moon

Happy Friday!

I hope you’re having great week so far! Mine’s gone way too quickly. Monday in a blur became Friday. There’s been a mini heatwave, an eye test, realising it’s been 12 years since I left the UK and my obliques sore from kettlebell windmills. I hadn’t done them in a while and if you think you don’t use your obliques running, think again. It took about 3 minutes into my run to make the connection.

Anyways, I’ll leave you with a little catch up!

Friday saw a run, checking out Huda Beauty that had just landed in Sephora and a long overdue trip to the Opticians. (more…)

Things I Learnt In June

If I had gone sideways rather than forwards along the 2nd monkey bars during in the Maori Race I think I could have done them without any help. I practice going forwards and sideways on the beach monkey bars and have a wider stronger grip and overall strength if I go sideways. Plus the Maori Race monkey bars were further apart than what I’m used to, so to sideways would have meant a wider swing/base to attack them as I skip a bar sideways on the beach. For some reason it only occurred to me in the race to approach them forwards.

If you get up early enough, you’re rewarded with amazing sunrises.

Tarte Cosmetics now ship directly to Spain! Woo hoo! (more…)

No Hay Rebajas Aqui And Catch Up

Happy Thursday!

While Spain’s great for somethings, sunshine, olive oil, tapas, big sale discounts is one thing I discovered it’s not. I’ve mentioned before sale discounts aren’t much here. Normally 20-30% which isn’t to be sniffed at, but the big discounts of 40-60% are normally reserved for the non Spanish retailers or it’s only department store El Corte Ingles. As most European high street shops are owned by Spanish Inditex, big discounts only occur towards the end of August on stock nobody really wants. I’m beginning to think this year the sales have been and gone without me noticing.

Even non Spanish stores I’ve noticed this summer have fewer discounts, fewer sale signs in windows. Maybe the big discounts are all on online. I haven’t really looked online as the shops are just down the road, (more…)
