I can’t believe the last weekend was the last weekend of August! This summer’s gone way too quickly and I’m a little jealous of those in the Southern Hemisphere. In a few weeks it’s Spring then Summer, while us in the Northern Hemisphere have the cold winter ahead. Sob.
Anyways, I hope you had a great weekend! Apologies for yet again no Weekend Friday Favourites. Sometimes those night naps where I get back and crash, mean I don’t always eat properly which has a knock on spiralling effect. Translate, I don’t have enough energy and I crash again. While I make an effect to have bigger lunches and more snacks in the day, I’m working on breaking the cycle as Weekend Friday Favourites is one of my favourite posts to write. Plus last week, errands seem never ending. Once the playa’s too chilly, I’ll have more time. Not that I laze around on the beach. I’m brushing up and learning Spanish with the DuoLingo App. For the amount of time I’ve been here, my Spanish only knows a few tenses and everything is nearly masculine! It’s easy to use and I’ve already noticed an improvement in my Spanish. And the app’s free!
I’ll leave you with some, okay a few photos of the past few days!
Breakfast with Mr AJ
Mr D and me. My cat ears courtesy of Etude House headband. Perfect for clay masks, sheet mask to keep hair out the way. We’d both just woken up! Friday’s run view
Chiringuito beach palms before the zoo and a little shopping in the centre. Saturday after chores, DIY manicure and pedicure (I’m getting better!), Tone It Up workouts, la playa and a little shopping, I caught the one of the last Rockstar Games speed bike races. It was I think the ladies final and those ladies are fast!
Sunday’s run was tough. I think I drank nearly all the water in my hydration pack and though it wasn’t a long long run, all my energy gels I packed that I’m trying out for Spartan Beast. The weather app said it was about 88% humidity when I checked later (I’ve really got to get it together to run earlier) and I was drenched within 2km. I pushed through as there’s only about 6 weeks until the Spartan race and I still haven’t ran further than 16km.
I’m concerned that I haven’t done enough training on the distance, but then I’m thinking I walked parts of the Super and that’s 13km. I’m also concerned about the wall climbs. I haven’t been scaling the wall I used to during weekday runs as there’s too many people around. The bar I use to practice muscle ups at the gym, the past few weeks is always taken. I stopped off at the monkey bars coming back and thankfully I can still do low muscles ups (forehead height). I know there’ll be help with the walls on race day, but I’d like to be able to scale some on my own! Looping back I’ve never been so happy for a head wind. Usually I like a tail wind looping back, but this time it was like a personal AC unit. And of course I went to the zoo!
This guy loves to play with shadows!
There was a huge commotion with the mangabey monkeys. I thought there was only one baby, however last week I noticed 2 females with a baby each. Sunday I didn’t know if one mum had stolen one, one had twins and another female monkey stole it, that there are 2 mums, or whether one mum was trying to get her baby off the other!
Talking with another orangutan the other side of the enclosure.
I want personal one of these running please!
Cute and he knows it!
Another cutie
Cycling back Sunday. It rained during the early hours this morning breaking the humidly. Yay!
Love/hate humidity? I don’t mind it but always happy when it rains! Have a great week!
Love the shadow. 1st official day of Spring today, and quite balmy. Roll on summer!
He he! We’ve still got about 3 more weeks until it’s official Autumn. Fingers crossed it’s an Indian Summer!
Loved the cat ears shadow. Very artsy! I agree….where did the summer go? I can’t believe how quickly your Spartan race is comimg up.
Where did it go?! We’ve still got a few weeks left of it 🙂 I can’t believe either how soon Spartan Race is. I’ve still got to find a running top that doesn’t stretch, find out if they have a bus service running this year!
The cat headband is cute. Better a shadow than the mask!
