One thing that’s never going to get easier is not having Mr AJ or Mr D, the boys, the cats around. January was the first full month without coming back to a happy face at the door. The first month without looking after a furry being. I’m still not used to being told it’s breakfast or dinner time. No one to keep me or my routine in check. No gentle or knock you over head butts. No purrs, just an empty silence. If I’m honest I feel lost without those 2. I have too much spare time on my hands.
New Years Day sunrise
A friend asked if I’m enjoying the freedom. I wasn’t sure how to take that. I know she meant well, but they were never a burden. If you’ve never spent part of your life with a cat or dog, you’re missing out on so much. So without pi**ing her off with a blunt f you answer I answered with, a lonelier freedom.
New Years Day Sunset
Most of January was quiet. Spain celebrates King’s Day on the 6th January so things don’t start to get back ‘normal’ until around the 2nd week of January. P asked if I wanted to get away. At first I was hesitant. There might be lots of changes this year (thanks Brexit) and I was concerned about money. Initially I thought of Portugal then cheekily suggested the Big Sur I’ve always wanted to see. Suddenly we found ourselves 2 weeks later on a plane to Continue reading “January Catch Up”
I hope you’re having a great weekend! I’m actually travelling for the next few weeks! As much as I can I’ll try to post when I can. In the meantime, this week’s Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have made me smile or caught my eye.
Storm Gloria, Sea Claiming Back
Beach access paths buried!
Earlier this week saw perhaps the worst or biggest depending on how you look at it storm, Storm Gloria along this part of Spain and France in a long time. It was so bad I didn’t cycle! Usually I’ll venture out as storm’s here aren’t too bad. This one had about 60-70 kph winds with one part of Spain recording 115 kph, that whipped around the apartment accompanied with non stop rain. No way was I cycling. When Gloria had mostly past, outside was great running weather with the sea smelling alive. She took back the beaches. Sadly Gloria also took some human and non human lives. It was sad seeing trees that couldn’t brace the winds from being in the wrong part of town as the wind whipped down the blocks and open spaces creating funnels. Cleaning up is going to take a few weeks with Valencia’s rice industry taking a huge hit as seawater flooded the rice fields.

I hope you’re having a great weekend! If I’m honest my mood this weekend is matching the weather outside. Blah. Life throws curve balls sometimes too many at once. But this is Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have made me smile this week or caught my eye!
Okay, I feel a bit old to be wearing scrunchies as I remember them back in the 90’s. I got some back in 2018 when they first started making their comeback and left them on my dressing table brightening it up. After watching a YouTube video where a hair dermatologist recommended they were the best hairband to avoid hair breakage I was okay, let’s start wearing them again. First at home then I braved wearing them at the gym. The hair dermatologist was right! Less breakage! Now my hair is longer I’d had enough of hair ties tangling up in the ends Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”
I hope you’re having a great weekend! I’m meant to be Christmas shopping online and wrapping presents to post, but they can wait. I’ve got a few more days until last calls for delivery in time for Christmas. It’s Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have been making me smile or caught my eye this week!

Chocolates Solé Chocolate Puro Dark Chocolate República Dominicana Sweetended With Agave
Another bio shop find! This chocolate is perfect if you want processed sugar free chocolate. Instead of cane sugar is sweetened with agave! It’s a little expensive about €2.30 for however it’s really quite nice without leaving a nasty after taste which some chocolate containing sugar can. It also hasn’t got the bitter taste of dark chocolate either. Ingredients are minimal with other flavours including chilli, cinnamon, olive oil, raspberries, ginger among so many more flavours Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”
November without sounding clique flew by!
We took a trip at the beginning of the month to a local castle, Castell de Burriac. Cutting it fine, no surprise we got there 30 minutes before sunset. It’s a few towns up and worth the motorbike ride. From the carpark it’s about a 3km steep hike. The vistas at the top are amazing even at dusk. The cars looked liked ants making me think about the logistics of supply and demand to all the people in the cars: food etc. It’s mind blowing how many resources humans use. All but the tower has free access. Being on the grounds also got me thinking of the Continue reading “November Catch Up”
