Stepping Out My Comfort Zone

I recently started listening to The Joe Rogan Experience podcast with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Jean Jacques Machado. Jean Jacques Machado mentioned that much of their training was how it transferred outside of training. This got me thinking how indoor bouldering and climbing after a year and a half has transferred away from the climbing wall.

Indoor bouldering and climbing, no shit isn’t a martial art, yet many elements are similar. Repetition, confidence, practice, breathing, trusting your instincts, understanding why’s, timing, reactions, strength, flexibility, balance, agility, coordination and of course fun. With each climbing grade or level comes new challenges. Sometimes it’s a new move or in my case more heel and toe hooks, another layer of strength but most of the time it’s breathing, believing in yourself to let go of the good hold for the hold you’re doubting you can make. When you finally make the commitment, usually you’ve got it. If you miss and fall, well, you’ve had falling lessons, try not to alter Continue reading “Stepping Out My Comfort Zone”

Catch Up

Hola! Hello! Where’ve ya been?! Long time no see!

Now that Mercury is no longer in retrograde I’m feeling more myself. Yep, that’s what I blaming my absence on for the few natjtan readers. That and time ran away with a huge creative slump.

P was back for a few months. Laundry tripled! Laundry can take what seems life forever more so when hanging it out to dry. Flip side I got lunches Continue reading “Catch Up”

Weekend Friday Favourites

Intermittent Weekend Friday Favourites is back! Consistent posting just isn’t happening at the moment. I’ve upped my climbing classes until June, however I’m spending as many five minutes as I can writing posts. I read a great quote in Instyle USA Magazine earlier this year from Li Bingbing. A Chinese proverb goes a little like this: Time is like water in a sponge. You can always find time if you squeeze hard enough.

Warm May temps have been moody chill May temps.

Anyway, I hope you’re having a fun weekend and I’ll leave ya with Weekend Friday Favourites. Things that have made me smile or caught my eye recently.

Birthday Cake! Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”

April Catch Up!

Happy May!

If the first half of April was quiet, the second half in comparison was action packed! Or for me it was.

April’s weather was more upside down than usual. Sometimes it’s a warm 22C, other times it’s chilly 16C. Mid April I’m usually in a denim jacket. This April, I was in a puffer jacket and thermal vest under T-shirts. Climate change? Winter was mild and sunny, April was windy with a few rainy days. For almost a week over Easter, grey skies, strong winds brought with them amazing waves making me appreciate sunny days. Continue reading “April Catch Up!”

Weekend Friday Favourites

I hope you’re having a great weekend! Here’s been quiet which is fine with me. I get to hang out with this little guy. Who sleeps most of the time and is currently sleeping on my lap helping me edit.

I can’t believe that Tone It Up’s Summer Series starts in a week. Or that they’re celebrating 10 years. Makes you think what you’ve done while they’ve been conquering the fitness world. Anyway, this weeks Weekend Friday Favourites. Things that have made me smile or caught my eye recently. As usual, animals included. Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”
