I woke up this morning to half my birthday wish, sunny skies! I’m hoping later I can sneak away for the rest of my birthday wish, a sun siesta!
I know some people on their birthdays celebrate with what they’ve learnt in life so far, others it’s just another day (My Dad doesn’t count them anymore!). I just know I’m at an age I’d never thought I’d be and not where I’d thought I’d be. Not that I had a plan anyway, but feeling/being (take your pick) trapped by fears, doubts, own insecurities, duties and resources, reality and dreams, birthdays are always a pause for reflection.
Anyways, birthday reflection aside, I’d thought it’d be fun to do a currently post. Kinda like Weekend Friday Favourites but more long term things I’m currently loving that I just can’t get enough of at the moment:
If I had just one ounce of Kate Hudson confidence, laughter and happiness she exudes I’d be happy! Both her and her Mum, Goldie Hawn* are two of my favourite actress, so when I found out Kate Hudson was releasing a book, you bet I pre ordered it! People kept asking her how she does it, how does she stay fit, what’s her secret answering and so on and she answered them in Pretty Happy. An interactive book about her experiences, attitude with elements of Ayurveda, common sense eating, her 4 pillars, mindfulness, meditation and a realistic approach that helped her become pretty happy (the books title comes from her response when people ask how she is). I’m about 1/4 of the way through and am enjoying it so far. She’s a down to earth, no nonsense, carefree as she appears on screen.
*Goldie Hawn’s A Lotus Grows in the Mud is also a great read.
Carrot Sticks and Hummus
I can’t get enough of carrots sticks and a hummus at the moment! They’re the perfect morning or afternoon snack. I can quite easily get through nearly a 250g pot in one sitting.
I also have issues finding lightweight in-between season scarfs. If they’re polyester or viscose I find after 2 weeks wear they become flimsy and don’t hold style very well. They also seem to develop an old camping tent or sleeping bag smell. I found this on in Zara about a month ago and it’s been the perfect weight, colours and goes with nearly everything.
The past few weeks I’ve noticed jasmine bushes that have always been there, but never noticed before. I know. I think it’s because I never used to cycle that path regularly at the time they’re most fragrant. And they smell heavenly!
This comes as no surprise, however my sanctuary’s all lush and green with sound of song birds at the moment!
Colours #3 and #5
These are a hybrid of a lip balm and lipstick. I’m not a fan of lipstick or glosses, but sometimes you want a bit of colour with your lip balm and these have been perfect recently. Cute bunny packaging helps too! Both of these are great on their own, especially #5 and layered together.
Team Coco, YouTube
You can always count on Team Coco, aka Conan O’Brian when you need a pick me giggle.
Another channel I can’t seem to get enough of. So many make up tutorials, tricks, tips, without any of the current heavy contouring thing at the moment. They’re also a little of English home comforts for me with their accents and Britishness.
Chriselle Lim, Youtube
Her videos always provide inspiration and motivation and I love how she comes across fun, which you don’t always pick up on from her blog. Everything fashion, skin care trends and motivation to get going, she’s your girl!
This track’s recently been popping up during my abs circuit and I seem to get lost in it and abs! It’s the perfect tempo for every type of plank combo, slide work, bridges, plank combo, leg lifts etc. I found it like some many did in the comments, Buzz Feed, Wedding Dresses Across Asia.
Aj and D
Just because they keep my on my toes!
What’s your usual birthday wish?
