Weekend Friday Favourites

How’s your week?! This week’s been grey windy skies with amazing waves and with a week of predicted rain to follow. Thankfully it’s finally warming up which makes the rain and wind more dealable. Maybe in 2 weeks I can finally switch out my winter coat!

I hope the rain next week cleans the windows of sea spray salt build up!

Anyways, Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have made me smile or caught my eye this week. It’s a short and sweet one!

The Pirates. The Last of the Royal Treasure

YouTube has once again taken over from Netflix as I can’t get into any shows at the moment. Or in other words there aren’t any Kdramas which I can get into. Thanks to Kdramas, I hardly watch any movies anymore as I’m so used to 1 hour or more episodes and I’m left asking so many questions if I do watch a movie. But I did watch a movie, The Pirates, The Last of the Royal Treasure! On Netflix no less!

Think Pirates of the Caribbean and you get this movie. Nothing really makes sense as I got confused slightly with the flashbacks as to who’s who, there are a few unanswered questions that I’m waiting for those hour long episodes to explain, yet I found myself laughing out aloud so many times and am hoping there’s sequel. I’m sure there’s a nod to The Goonies upon finding treasure laden ship filled with gold and have no idea how the penguins guarding it go from tropical penguins to nearly every other type of Antarctic penguins tie in. Or why there are Antarctic penguins on a tropical island guarding a ship. Are they the previous crew turned into penguins? I don’t know! I only know it’s a great feel good, escape from life movie.

Rainbows

Everybody knows after rain comes sunshine and rainbows, as does nearly always on rainy days if it stops late afternoon before sunset, the sun always has to have a F you moment of hehehe, rain all day and here I am. I think this was the last time I saw the sunshine in a week.

Strawberry Plants

Spring always fills the supermarkets with potted plants. I made a promise to myself which I’ve already broken not the buy plants from supermarkets anymore as they always have pest bugs which spread. When I was little we had a strawberry patch that had the best strawberries I’ve ever tasted, so when I saw this year my local superstore had strawberry plants I was okay I’ll get some! I’m hoping they like the balcony and I save some money on strawberries this year. When it finally stops raining and be so windy I’ll replant then in the long planter.

Zoo Patrul Kyiv

Patrol Kyiv (nothing I think to do with Kyiv Zoo) is an animal rescue organisation, currently rescuing cats left behind when their humans fled. They cut a tiny cat flap sized hole in the doors and tempt out the cats with food. Many cats have been left for days without food or water and have such confessed faces when they rescued. I’m sure they have the owners permission and it’s heartwarming to see the cats being rescued.

Helping Zoos in Ukraine

I’ve been sharing how to help animal shelters in Ukraine and this week found via Twitter how to help zoo animals as many Ukrainan zoos are now dealing with food shortages. One zoo was asking people to buy online tickets to help with food (I can’t find the exact thread anymore however it was via UkraineEnglishUpdates on Twitter). EAZA or European Association of Zoos and Aquariums are raising funds with donations to help fellow Ukrainian zoos. While Kyiv Zoo has managed to safely transport some animals to Poland, many are still in Kyiv zoo with their keepers now living at the zoo.

What’s been making you smile or caught your eye this week? Please share in the comments below! Have a fun weekend!
