Weekend Friday Favourites

Animal Kingdom, Lifestyle, Nature, Weekend Friday Favourites

How’s your week?! This week’s been grey windy skies with amazing waves and with a week of predicted rain to follow. Thankfully it’s finally warming up which makes the rain and wind more dealable. Maybe in 2 weeks I can finally switch out my winter coat!

I hope the rain next week cleans the windows of sea spray salt build up!

Anyways, Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have made me smile or caught my eye this week. It’s a short and sweet one!

The Pirates. The Last of the Royal Treasure

YouTube has once again taken over from Netflix as I can’t get into any shows at the moment. Or in other words there aren’t any Kdramas which I can get into. Thanks to Kdramas, I hardly watch any movies anymore as I’m so used to 1 hour or more episodes and I’m left asking so many questions if I do watch a movie. But I did watch a movie, The Pirates, The Last of the Royal Treasure! On Netflix no less!

Think Pirates of the Caribbean and you get this movie. Nothing really makes sense as I got confused slightly with the flashbacks as to who’s who, there are a few unanswered questions that I’m waiting for those hour long episodes to explain, yet I found myself laughing out aloud so many times and am hoping there’s sequel. I’m sure there’s a nod to The Goonies upon finding treasure laden ship filled with gold and have no idea how the penguins guarding it go from tropical penguins to nearly every other type of Antarctic penguins tie in. Or why there are Antarctic penguins on a tropical island guarding a ship. Are they the previous crew turned into penguins? I don’t know! I only know it’s a great feel good, escape from life movie.

Everybody knows after rain comes sunshine and rainbows, as does nearly always on rainy days if it stops late afternoon before sunset, the sun always has to have a F you moment of hehehe, rain all day and here I am. I think this was the last time I saw the sunshine in a week.

Strawberry Plants

Spring always fills the supermarkets with potted plants. I made a promise to myself which I’ve already broken not the buy plants from supermarkets anymore as they always have pest bugs which spread. When I was little we had a strawberry patch that had the best strawberries I’ve ever tasted, so when I saw this year my local superstore had strawberry plants I was okay I’ll get some! I’m hoping they like the balcony and I save some money on strawberries this year. When it finally stops raining and be so windy I’ll replant then in the long planter.

Reflexology and Rainbows

I was more than okay for this past weekend to be a little more low key than action packed. Friday blocked sinuses thanks to allergies morphed into a blocked nose, sore throat and then cough that I’m nearly over. Saturday evening I couldn’t sleep, everything ached and in desperation I tried the head massager thingy which helped and then the idea of reflexology popped up.

A quick Google search later for reflexology for block sinuses later I was breathing better. The site then suggested facial reflexology to help sinuses. I just wanted the cold gone

Weekend Friday Favourites

I hope you’re having a great weekend! The temps have dipped the past few days leaving an air like it’s the end of summer. More so as school’s out for the next 3 months, the motorway traffic outside’s a fraction of what it usually is. The temps should be back to a nice 28C+ from tomorrow so summer can back to being hot! Seal Barcelona Zoo

Finally A Moment!

Animal Kingdom, Animals, Fitness, Nature

Finally a moment to say Hi! The past few days have been little crazy, however I finally finished my Outdoor Fitness Coach lesson plan. It took much longer than normal class plan of what exercises with maybe stick figures and few notes. Every single exercise’s noted and hand written from the warm up exercises to cool down stretches with teaching points, progressions, alternatives, adaptations, intensity, etc. Plus I have to plan it in a manner how they like to pass and try not to get through 1/4 realm of paper doing so. I finished it last night and emailed it. Now it’s a waiting game if I pass to take the practical. Then there was Monday.

At my dentist appointment Monday, my not so clever streak continued. The gum filling (yep. I like cleaning my teeth a little too much) I thought had fallen out, was still there. I told them when I arrived it’s probably my imagination and yep, it was.

Tuesday a not so clever person (I wasn’t as polite with my name calling) locked their bike around my front brake cable. I’d finished work and the gym and was looking forward to stealing the last few beach siestas before it gets too chilly on my way back. 45 minutes waiting for the owner to return, the gym couldn’t help me without calling out maintenance who were busy, I decided to wait out the owner. My gym is located right by the beach and several police cars patrol every hour. I flag one down and ask if they could help. They could and got beach maintenance. I’d managed while waiting remove part of the cable, but didn’t have any allen keys (like I’d carry any!) or anything to undo the screws.Locked bikes

Beach maintenance hand me cutters to cut the cable, my bike, only I can cut it for them to avoid being accused of stealing. I’m just about to cut the plastic coating when one of them says wait I have allen keys, which is what the policia wanted. Short story it took 2 policemen, 1 beach maintenance guy and me to free my bike. I really wanted to say something to the owner, but I was happy just to have my bike back minus a working front brake. Thank you to the guys who helped out! I also found out that police car patrol wear bullet proof jackets. Not something I thought they do here.

Diesel (cat) recently has been getting up to mischief. Just being his normal cheeky self, but I think the cooler temperature has been firing up his playful antics. While Aj has a few designated sleep spots, D has about 5 in each room, depending on the time of day, temperature and what’s mine or Aj’s he can claim. Yesterday morning I found him napping half on the Xbox and half on the cable spaghetti behind the TV, internet/wifi router. They’re pretty good at not going behind the TV once I’ve said no (energy projection!), but he’s never gone behind there before that I know of. The fibre optic cable is there. The guy who installed it said, careful with the cats, it’s live wire. I shoo D out who doesn’t leave the easy way over the Xbox, but via the cable spaghetti. Please excuse the finger smudge.
Diesel, Xbox, no internet

Then no internet. I reset the router and wifi several times. I reset the mains. I go for a run, no internet when back. I Google red alarm flashing on router. I pull out and reconnect the wires. Still red alarm. I look closer at the cables. D when backing out must have squashed part of the fibre optic, bending it around through it’s plastic tie. I straigthen it out, remove the plastic tie (he loves them, I don’t like him loving them) and viola internet!

Anyways, seeing as most you like visit for photos rather then my writing skills, I’ll leave you some from the week so far (and that means the weekend too)!

Thunderstorms, Salt Water, Rainbows and Scarves

Animal Kingdom, Fitness, Inspiration, Nature, Photography, Thought

I’m not sure which is more crazy. Me buying a winter scarf in 30C or that I can buy a scarf in 30C that I won’t wear for at least 4 more months.

The shops are now filled with autumn/winter collections. I saw puffer coats in Zara the other day. It gets me every year in Spain. It can be 30C midday at the end of September. As soon as the summer sales finish, winter arrives. I know the designers and shops already had the designs planned early this early for to be ready. Much like the fashion houses from the 1800’s when it took months to make the next season’s collections. Designs were sent out early, so ladies could choose in advance what they wanted. Kinda like Spring/Summer Fashion Week in the autumn before. Some days I just don’t get it. I don’t want to be looking at winter attire when it’s 28C! In some countries (UK summer?) this works, others it doesn’t. What if you live in the Tropics and don’t have cold seasons? Jeans and T shirt?

I’m gradually getting over my chewing gum feeling. This week’s got busy and next week’s looking the same. If I’m busy I can push the feeling aside.

Dips in the sea help. I swear salt water cures nearly everything! It’s the original poor mans hydro therapy. Muscle aches disappear. I’m gonna miss them when it’s gets too chilly soon to go in (and be wanting that scarf to warm up as my hands loose sensation, turn yellow, fingernails go blue if I do go in! Maybe the fashion houses have got it right!). Wednesday when I got back from work and the gym I could hardly keep my eyes open. I did what I could before leaving again to run errands. But I had to stop off somewhere on the way as I knew it would wake me up!Nearly crystal clear

There’s something about the sea. It draws us, it calms us. It can be our friend or foe. I swear when it’s hot a dip cools down the water inside internally. Thoughts disappear. It’s just me and the sea and 100 others doing the same! In the winter, just sitting watching the waves calms us. Wednesday it was nearly crystal clear, cool (the worst for perfect beach hair afterwards. When it’s warm and salty, perfect beach hair! Cooler and less salty, my hair’s a mess!) and for a moment I forgot about everything. August Thunderstorm

Yesterday’s beach time was a little different. The ground wind was a different direction to the cloud wind (I hope that makes sense). Cycling to the beach hot blue skies. I lock my bike, dark rainclouds roll in from nowhere. The wind picked up, the beach emptied. I stayed put thinking it won’t last long. No one was allowed in the water, it started to rain, but nah, I wasn’t leaving. Huddled in my cape sarong the lifeguards walking to shelter asked if I was okay as it’s an ‘electric storm’. Said thank you, I’m ok, thinking, photos!

August ThunderstormAugust Thunderstorm
When it really tipped it down I made my way to the nearest beach bar with others doing the same. 5 minutes later if that, blue skies and a double rainbow! No dip as I didn’t know if I’d warm up after (I needed that scarf!). I was drench anyways and spend the rest of the late afternoon drying off (ok sunbathing!). Even the weather’s breaking the chewing gum feeling!August ThunderstormAugust ThunderstormAugust Thunderstorm

I’m gonna be cliche and quote Dolly Parton. “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain!”. There’s always light after dark, always sunshine chasing away the clouds. Things pass, so shall this chewing gum feeling until next time. Because let’s admit it, rainbows are pretty cool!August ThunderstormAugust ThunderstormAugust Thunderstorm
And that scarf. Winter beach colours.H&M A/W15/16 ScarfWhat’s your favourite quote, metaphor ? Beach during the rain or stay home? One person sheltering was laughing ‘I don’t get it. They swim in the sea, get wet, but when it rains, they leave!’ Or something like that. I said because it’s not pretty, which he laughed and said ‘Because it’s not pretty! Look the sun’s coming out, It’s pretty now!’ Or something like that. It might have got lost in translation!
