Welcome to Beauty Finds! This edition features Tarte Maneater Mascara.

Every now and then I get fed up of my go to mascara Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara + Lash Primer and see what’s out there, if there’s a better natural clean ingredient mascara new on the market. It is hard to find a mascara that isn’t full of crap. I’ve learnt Sephora is the best place to look for good cruelty free mascaras. I’ve tried drugstore mascaras but they just don’t seem to have the same effect slightly more expensive mascaras. I also know that Tarte does not use petroleum or mineral oil in any of their mascaras. It’s surprising how many mascaras use paraffin wax. From my Beauty Finds requirements below, petroleum from which paraffin wax is derived from is a big no for me. Many mascaras also contain parabens and pvc or vinyl. Pvc is also petroleum derived in plastic form. Skip a paragraph or read on for my Beauty Finds requirements.
I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. I also avoid palm oil and it’s derivatives as I prefer orangutans. Coconut oil marketed as the good oil I’m also cutting down on as it can be just a damaging crop as palm oil. If I do get products containing palm or coconut oil I try to get organic or sustainably sourced. With make up it’s a little harder so I go for cruelty free brands. I prefer products with less plastic and thankfully more brands are aware consumers don’t want unnecessary plastic (or governments are telling them less plastic). My skin type’s oily sensitive, acne prone and now wrinkles. I know nothing stops those lines, but if I can delay them then….
Tarte Maneater Mascara

Dramatic volume, length & curl with no clumping or flaking.
Custom brush with +500 bristles brings out every last lash.
Vitamin E, jojoba & carnauba wax
I know by now not to trust the first application or wear as all mascaras seem to start off weak. Almost like their mascara magic only starts to work on the second day which is when you can start to have an opinion. I liked the brush as it’s very similar to Honest Beauty’s. It’s a warm black shade perfect for hazel eyes. I liked that it didn’t flake much and it does what it says on the tin: +500 bristles bring out every last lash. I’m probably ask too much from a mascara. I like long lashes, with lash separation yet not a natural look even though I like a natural look. The nature mascara look it’s okay, I just like wearing mascara that opens up my small eyes with a long lash look that has volume that doesn’t clump.

I like the ingredient list. Clean with quite a few natural ingredients. Not vegan but I’m a bad vegan eating honey so beeswax is okay. Sadly with liquid eyeliner it started to be like Milk Makeup Kush Waterproof Mascara just not opening up my eyes. You could hardly see the lashes above the eyeliner. I’m not talking a super thick line, just a thin line. My lashes with Tarte Maneater mascara just disappeared into the eyeliner so for sure it’s wasn’t lengthening or voluminsing. I noticed straight away but stuck with it for a few weeks until returning back to Honest Beauty. I didn’t feel like me with short lashes peeking up. It also isn’t a long lasting mascara despite its online claim of 16 hours wear. It doesn’t flake much, but by the end of the day my lashes had disappeared altogether.

However, worn it’s own without eyeliner its amazing. It does open up my eyes, lengthen and volumise perfectly. For now I’m using it for when I run so as not to waste it. I don’t feel myself if I’m not wearing eyeliner. I’m not a girl than can run barefaced. I need a little something so as not to scare anybody but can run minus eyeliner.
It is expensive, €27.99 for 9ml. The tube is plastic and the carton laminated cardboard. It’s easy to remove with oil cleanser. The tube if your hands have anything like lotion on them it can be a little tricky to open. The wand can clump up however I use an eyelash comb (Tweezerman is the best. You can get them cheaper at outlet villages) to help separate lashes more. I really am a diva when it comes to lashes.
Would I recommend? Yes. It’s a good clean ingredient mascara and if you like just wearing eyeshadow and mascara or natural look mascara it’s perfect. If you want to wear it with eyeliner or want something extra, I would look for another mascara.
Thank you for stopping by!
