Beauty Finds: Tarte Maneater Mascara Review

Welcome to Beauty Finds! This edition features Tarte Maneater Mascara.

Every now and then I get fed up of my go to mascara Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara + Lash Primer and see what’s out there, if there’s a better natural clean ingredient mascara new on the market. It is hard to find a mascara that isn’t full of crap. I’ve learnt Sephora is the best place to look for good cruelty free mascaras. I’ve tried drugstore mascaras but they just don’t seem to have the same effect slightly more expensive mascaras. I also know that Tarte does not use petroleum or mineral oil in any of their mascaras. It’s surprising how many mascaras use paraffin wax. From my Beauty Finds requirements below, petroleum from which paraffin wax is derived from is a big no for me. Many mascaras also contain parabens and pvc or vinyl. Pvc is also petroleum derived in plastic form. Skip a paragraph or read on for my Beauty Finds requirements.

Beauty Finds: Respire Apple And Pomegranate Deodorant Stick Review

Welcome back to another Beauty Finds! This edition is Respire Apple and Pomegranate Deodorant Stick.

I did for a while make my own deodorant until convenience won. I’d been using Respire Fleur d’Oranger Orange Blossom Natural deodorant which I liked. It wasn’t heavy feeling, wasn’t sticky, 99% natural and clean ingredients, but still got a little stinky the end of the day. Respire do refills, yet at the end of the day it’s still plastic. This was a little guilt trip as I started making my own to save on plastic. Sephora’s travel and mimi products stand by the cash desk did their thing when I saw Respire now do a plastic free option. Of course I had to try it! Skip a paragraph for the review or read on about my beauty product requirements.

I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. I also avoid palm oil and it’s derivatives as I prefer orangutans. Coconut oil marketed as the good oil I’m also cutting down on as it can be just a damaging crop as palm oil. If I do get products containing palm or coconut oil I try to get organic or sustainably sourced. With make up it’s a little harder so I go for cruelty free brands. I prefer products with less plastic and thankfully more brands are aware consumers don’t want unnecessary plastic (or governments are telling them less plastic). My skin type’s oily sensitive, acne prone and now wrinkles. I know nothing stops those lines, but if I can delay them then….

Respire Apple and Pomegranate Deodorant Stick

First up as mentioned it’s 100% plastic free. The tube is cardboard and the label isn’t plastic cover paper. It’s all cardboard. There isn’t a plastic seal, neither is the base of the deodorant. No packing carton, just the deodorant as it is on sale. It works by manually pushing up from the base when needed. It’s extremely long lasting too, about 4-5 months which is great value for money at 50g for €11.90 or €3 a month from Sephora España. Respire’s own site it’s the same price with discount on bundles.

Beauty Finds: Sioris Feel So Fresh Toner Review

Welcome to Beauty Finds! This edition features Sioris Feel So Fresh toner

This was Miin Cosmetics find. If there’s one product I’m not so loyal with it’s toner. A toner’s role is to return the skin to its ideal state after cleansing for the next stages of skincare. Cleansing strips away impurities including the ‘good ones’. A toner returns the skin to its neutral pH level around 5 and hydrate the skin to help absorb further products to come. Some toners also help remove any left over residue from cleansing although my belief is those said cleansers aren’t doing their role properly! Skip a paragraph for the review otherwise read on about my beauty requirements.

Sioris Feel So Fresh Toner

A facial toner contains Yuja Extract Water (77.9%) which is an orange citrus from Jeju Island infused with Witch Hazel Water, Willow Bark Extract and Broccoli Extract to help balance, hydrate dry sensitive skin.

Note dry sensitive skin! I have oily skin! When I was trying this is was just after lockdown was lifted and this girl wanted a new toner! It was hard finding one the previous months and I was allowed out to shop.

I ignored my inner voice saying stay away, it contains witch hazel! Witch hazel is meant to be good for oily acne skin however I find it’s way too drying with my skin. Ignoring that voice and saying no look it has Yuja extract! That’s one of the most potent vitamin C sources in skin care! The aloe vera leaf extract and glycerin will counteract any of the drying properties of the witch hazel.

Ingredients:

Please note the Sioris uses seasonal ingredients so each batch may differ in ingredients depending on the time of year each batch is produced.

Beauty Finds: Honest Beauty Gloss-C Lip Gloss Review

Welcome back to another Beauty Finds. This edition is Honest Beauty Gloss-C Lip Gloss!

I’m more of neutral lip balm girl than lipstick or lip gloss girl, but every now and then I sway to the dark side of glosses and tinted lip balms. So when Douglas España finally got in the Gloss-C (get it?!) lip gloss this girl was tempted.

I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. As the above requirements say with make up it’s hard to find clean ingredients. Thankfully there are some brands that know some girls want clean make up that’s not crazy. Honest Beauty is one of them. Jessica Alba always looks amazing and I’d like to think she wearing her own beauty line when she comes to promoting Honest or in her acting promo tours. Most of her Honest Beauty make up line I’ve tired I like, so I was surprised when Douglas España got the lip gloss so quickly in after it was released last year. Normally new Honest Beauty products take a while to become available on Douglas, where it’s available in Europe (such as the shampoo and conditioner. I think they were one of the first products back when she started Honest and only this year Douglas España has got them in! I think Douglas Germany has had them in for a few years). I like too that they’re no fuss packaging with minimal ingredients. Any interview Jessica Alba gives where she’s asked what does she look out for in products, she always says she avoids perfume and a long list of ingredients. Plus that marketing ploy if we buy into the brand we’re buying into that person, model, image and get to feel like them for a second and our lives automatically become better just by buying that product. Jessica Alba always looks like she has the best life so maybe wearing it I can get some Jessica Alba sparkle! See, I can fall for that too!

Beauty Finds: Moisturizers, A Face Mist and A Handcream

Welcome to another Beauty Finds! My honest review on Kora Organics Moisturisers, Frank Body Face Mist and Freshly Cosmetics hand cream.

As usual my requirements for beauty products are: cruelty free, vegan is better, natural ingredients, clean ingredients or a combination of both. No nasty ingredients like SLS, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals etc. I also try to avoid second, third, fourth generations petrochemicals. I avoid palm oil as I prefer oranguatans. Some get through as I sped read the label, didn’t know its alias or that ingredient until later. With skincare it’s easier to be picky. With makeup it’s a little more tricky so I opt for cruelty free. I’m also reducing plastic waste however with beauty products it’s not always easy finding less plastic packaging. Brands are catching on that consumers want less plastic such as Freshly Cosmetics.

My skin type is oily, sensitive, acne and even more now, I look for anti-aging products. I know ageing is inevitable, I’m all up for slowing those wrinkles.

Kora Organics Purifying Moisturizer Oil/Combination Skin

A light-weight daily moisturizer that is great for oil/combination skin. Thanks to Certified Organic Aloe Vera, Lemon and Green Tea Extracts for controlling excess oil and providing hydration and balance to your skin.

I was looking forward to trying this moisturiser as the Kora Organics products I’d been using I was enjoying. A friend brought me back this from Australia as it’s unavailable in Spain (I paid her back of course)! While I loved the scent and the light weight texture sadly it just wasn’t hydrating enough for my skin. I tried it both as a day and night moisturiser and found it worked better in the mornings. When used at night I found myself putting more on 30 minutes later to feel hydrated. In the morning this was overcome by applying SPF afterwards. As for controlling excess oil, I was still as shiny later on in the day.
