Welcome to Beauty Finds! This edition features Honest Purely Sensitive Shampoo + Body Wash and Honest Purely Sensitive Conditioner.
First up, if in Spain don’t purchase either this shampoo or conditioner from Douglas España. Purchase from Niche Beauty and you save €11.90. For some reason Douglas España charges almost triple what other Douglas in Europe charge and even to the price in the USA.
Secondly the labels are in German as Douglas Germany is the mother Douglas for all Douglases within Europe.
Jessica Alba always has beautiful hair and I’m sure uses her own products. While I have a great shampoo, finding a conditioner that works is hard. My hair’s fine, oily at the roots and dry at the ends. It’s way better condition now I use amla oil and powder, wash it every other day however I can just can’t find a good conditioner that hydrates. My skin can be sensitive so I decided to try the fragrance free shampoo and conditioner. I paid Douglas prices so I was expecting lots. Both products are clean ingredient, cruelty free and vegan.

I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. I also avoid palm oil and it’s derivatives as I prefer orangutans. Coconut oil marketed as the good oil I’m also cutting down on as it can be just a damaging crop as palm oil. If I do get products containing palm or coconut oil I try to get organic or sustainably sourced. With make up it’s a little harder so I go for cruelty free brands. I prefer products with less plastic and thankfully more brands are aware consumers don’t want unnecessary plastic (or governments are telling them less plastic). My skin type’s oily sensitive, acne prone and now wrinkles. I know nothing stops those lines, but if I can delay them then….

The first wash my hair was beautiful afterwards! Glossy, shiny, good condition. I was in love. Finally a good shampoo and conditioner with minimal ingredients, silicone free that boosts my hair. Sadly after a month my hair was dried out. The ends were drier than usual and the roots lost all that gloss. To be honest I don’t know what happened. Maybe I used too much shampoo and it striped my hair dry. Maybe it reacted with the amla products. Maybe I didn’t wash out all the conditioner or the shampoo.
It is fragrance free like it says. This I appreciated. I’m not keen on overly strong scented hair products. I remember reading one review where the reviewer said that she almost used up an entire bottle of shampoo in one wash of her thick curly hair. I didn’t believe her. Most of the reviews on Honest were good with a few not for me’s so I was okay I’ll chance the €19.90 price tag.
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Panthenol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium PCA, Coconut Acid, Glutamic Acid, Citric Acid
First up, it’s not a foaming shampoo. There’s a little foam but not much. I understand that most shampoos don’t need to be foaming. It’s a trick of if it’s foaming or lathering up it’s working. However at the same time, it didn’t spread well when massaging it in. My usual shampoo, Briogeo Be Gentle Be Kind Matcha and Apple Replenishing Superfood Shampoo lasts me about 4 months or more at 369ml at €29.90 (one reason I also wanted to change was for a cheaper shampoo). This shampoo, I’m not joking I got through nearly 295ml in 4 weeks. I didn’t even use it as a body wash as it’s 2 in 1 product! Maybe this is why my hair died out as I was using so much as it didn’t seem to be spreading when applied, striping away all the hair oil.
I also found that when combing my hair after washing it was full of tangles. I later used the 2 products with other shampoos and conditioners and every time I used this shampoo my hair was in tangles.
Honest Purely Sensitive Conditioner
Knots and tangles be gone! Our hair conditioner nourishes and smooths unruly strands for soft, silky feeling hair that’s easier to manage and comb. Available in calming Lavender, nourishing Sweet Almond, classic Sweet Orange Vanilla – or our Fragrance-Free option, each of our blissful scents was created with a blend of natural ingredients, botanicals and essential oils. This product is very versatile, use as a baby conditioner to moisturize your baby’s delicate hair or use this paraben-free hair conditioner for yourself and promote healthy hair growth!

This is okay. Nothing wow but nothing bad. Sadly when used with other shampoos it didn’t hydrate or nourish my hair. The conditioner in contrast to the shampoo does last a long time. After about a month I had only used less than 1/3 of the bottle. It also isn’t a knots and tangle free conditioner. Used again with different shampoos I had tangles to get through. I always comb my hair before washing to eliminate tangles during washing but I still got them!
Ingredients

Product Design
I like the idea of the pumps. Easy to use. No flipping lids, squeezing bottles. Just pump and go. The bottles are sturdy enough they don’t fall over when in use or towards the end of the bottle. However the pumps could be over the bottle a little longer as there’s not much room in between your hand and the pump so some product can be lost. The design is great for travelling HOWEVER CLOSE the pump down on your last shampoo and conditioner BEFORE leaving/packing, as locking the pump will cause product to be pumped out, aka wasted product.
Would I recommend: If your hair can handle any shampoo and conditioner yes, otherwise look else where. If you have fine or very thick curly hair I’d try something else. I have tired also Honest Gently Nourishing, Sweet Almond Conditioner which I’ll post a review in a few weeks. The conditioner if you get past the fragrance which does not smell anything like almonds, I would recommend for fine hair as it has some magic in it.
