Nat’s Week, The True Cost, Studying, Elephants and Orangutans

Happy August!

I’m going to overlook and forget that in just under 2 months Summer slowly makes way Autumn Fall. Already in a few shops are winter jumpers and light padded duvet jackets. It’s July, it’s 30C outside and the shops are making me think of winter. So I’m avoiding them. That and after watching The True Cost a documentary about the fast fashion’s social, environmental and human cost, this girl is consciously moving away from fast fashion. Just as the reason why I became a vegetarian then vegan, after watching The True Cost, I don’t want some one or something to suffer for my enjoyment. I know realistically this will be tricky, but I can try.Cheeky parakeet, Barcelona Zoo

I was in the mood for a fashion documentary last Thursday and came across The True Cost on Netflix. If you love clothes, fashion and even if you don’t, I highly recommend watching it. (more…)

Tarte Cosmetics International Delivery and Giving into NYX Cosmetics

A few weeks ago I found out by chance that Tarte Cosmetics now delivers direct to Spain. Not all products are eligible but most of their products are. Prices are a little less than brand equivalent in Sephora España and I was able to take advantage of their Independence Day free shipping which included free international shipping. Usually free international delivery qualifies on orders over €65. A major draw for me to them is that they are cruelty free with a few vegan products.

I was curious how they were able to cosmetics ship to Spain without getting flagged in customs. From experience and maybe the law’s changed within the last 3 years, Spain doesn’t allow the import of make up. It’s touch and go if parcels clear custom inspections and if it’s courier sent, it’s more likely to get stuck/flagged. The way they got around it was having (more…)

Weekend Friday Favourites

I hope you’re having a great weekend! A short favourites finds this week. This week’s been a little all over the place hence not having many favourites to share even though last week’s WFF didn’t happen. That said there are quite a few internet finds. So without further ado….

Alley Way Late Afternoon Sun

I think this is in El Born or in the centre. I can’t remember exactly where and I don’t recognise the buildings. (more…)

Things I Learnt In June

If I had gone sideways rather than forwards along the 2nd monkey bars during in the Maori Race I think I could have done them without any help. I practice going forwards and sideways on the beach monkey bars and have a wider stronger grip and overall strength if I go sideways. Plus the Maori Race monkey bars were further apart than what I’m used to, so to sideways would have meant a wider swing/base to attack them as I skip a bar sideways on the beach. For some reason it only occurred to me in the race to approach them forwards.

If you get up early enough, you’re rewarded with amazing sunrises.
