The lions at Barcelona Zoo have a new member!
I believe he’s the first cub to be born at the zoo to Lutecio aka big daddy and Run Run in March this year. He and his Mama had time alone like in the wild and now the zoo’s gradually getting him accustomed to his new surrounding (press statement here). Last week walking past their enclosure I didn’t pay any mind. It was so close to closing and I couldn’t see any lions out. Then I did a double take. Was that a cub poking it’s head around the passage leading to their downstairs bit?!
My detective skills are paying off. Now I know why recently I’ve only seen Big Daddy and 2 lionesses out instead of the usual 3 lionesses. Little things you don’t think off until after. He’s yet to be named and he’s already being adventurous exploring his new surroundings on his own before calling for Mum. Bless him, he sounded liked AJ. But then AJ is a full grown adult male cat, who has the sweetest chirps. Chirp? Just here me roar when I’m all grown up like my Papa!
Please excuse the quality of the photos. My lens isn’t long enough to zoom as close as I’d like. But you work with what you got, so this is what I have. Enjoy!
