Welcome to Beauty Finds. This edition features Meisani Rice and Shine Hyaluronic Acid Essence Toner.

If there’s one beauty product I’m not loyal to its toners. I was using last year Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Toner however I was ready for a change. Benton was okay, nothing special. When I started making rice water for my hair, I read that rice is great for skin too. The only other rice toner at the time was I’m From and I wasn’t into the ingredients. Miin Cosmetics, yes, my favourite beauty shop had last year launched their 2nd own brand called Meisani which included a toner.
Meisani means in ‘Echo’ in Korean dialect and is a mix of natural and chemical (the good ones) ingredients with the tag line From Barcelona to Seoul. Spanish idea, made in Korea. To be honest I prefer and like the idea of this line than their other brand Ondo Beauty 36.5. I like the simplicity of the few Meisani products I have tried. I also like the price point: mid range. There weren’t any other toners that caught my eye and yes, I was hesitant to try Miin Comestic’s own line. Shops own brands can be hit or miss. Read on for my beauty finds requirements or skip a paragraph for the review.
I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. I also avoid palm oil and it’s derivatives as I prefer orangutans. Coconut oil marketed as the good oil, I’m also cutting down on as it can be just a damaging crop as palm oil. If I do get products containing palm or coconut oil I try to get organic or sustainably sourced. With make up it’s a little harder so I go for cruelty free brands. I prefer products with less plastic and thankfully more brands are aware consumers don’t want unnecessary plastic (or governments are telling them less plastic). My skin type’s oily sensitive, acne prone and now wrinkles. I know nothing stops those lines, but if I can delay them then….
Meisani Rice & Shine Hyaluronic Acid Essence Toner
Fresh hydrating Essence Toner. It helps to reinforce the skin’s barrier function and boost its moisture levels while revealing a luminous and juicy complexion.

First impressions, the scent. It’s unique. Thankfully I’m so used to it (2nd bottle!). It’s a little thicker than a regular toner being an essence toner. Toner is used after cleansing to return the skin to its regular PH level. An essence is like serum yet is a high powered version of a toner containing a higher concentration of the active toner ingredients to target line lines, hyperpigmentation, extra hydration AND is more watery. Usually out the 10 Kbeauty steps. it’s applied after toning and before serum or facial oil and moisturising depending on routine. A 2 in 1 cuts down the steps. In this case the essence toner is to hydrated, improve overall skin texture and provide glow. If I wasn’t already hesitant to try it as it was a shop’s own brand, I have oily skin, do I need the extra glow? Rice water is renowned for glowy skin. In addition rice water can sooth sun damaged skin, strengthen the skin barrier, aid in skin elasticity, slow aging signs, nourish skin and has been used a beauty ingredient in Japan since about 794CE!

Oily skin if super oily can be a sign of dehydration so maybe my face likes the extra hydration boost. It can at times feel like it’s too drying for my skin on application, leaving it feeling dry so I have to be quick applying Vitamin C serum then moisturiser. That said, my skin likes it, I didn’t break out and if anything the overall appearance of my skin improved slightly. All other products I used didn’t change. While I don’t like full on oily face shine, I don’t like it when my skin looks matte and lifeless so I’m okay if it’s little more glowy than most other people. I’d rather my skin feel hydrated than dry and cracked (wrinkles fine lines).

I apply it with just my hands to save on cotton makeup pads (some aren’t even 100% cotton! They can contain polyester so read the labels!) with a little going a long way. I know when I’ve applied too much, I’m boarder line oily slick. It’s reasonably priced, 24.95€ for 150ml which lasted me about 4 months used twice a day. You don’t need much! I like the simple packaging style although the bottle is plastic, it’s made from post consumer materials. The lid is heavy duty sealing the product well in-between uses. Thankfully the bottle doesn’t topple over much towards the end if you accidentally knock it reaching for other products.

The ingredients are okay. Butylene Glycol (can be from corn, sugarcane or petroleum. The source here is unknown), 1,2 Hexanediol (again plants or petroleum derived, source here unknown) are the 2 that most stand out of are they the good version of the watch out ingredients. Also the source of the hyaluronic acid: animal or plants. All of Mesiani’s products are natural, minimal, vegan, cruelty free with the planet in mind. I like that Meisani or Miin Cosmetics listened to what their customers are buying or wanted to buy, when they developed their own lines hence Meisani meaning echo. Miin Cosmetics only stocks cruelty free Korean brands with a wide range of natural vegan lines.
Would I recommend? Yes! I’ve repurchased! I think it’s a good hydrating, skin brightening toner for all skin types. I’m already 2/3 through my second bottle! Just remember if you have oily skin, a little goes a long way!
Thank you for stopping by!
