Beauty Finds: Ondo Beauty 365 Caffeine & Green Tea Antioxidant Eye Patches Review

Welcome to Beauty Finds! This edition features Ondo Beauty 365 Caffeine & Green Tea Antioxidant Eye Patches.

Ban-Jjak means twinkling or shining in Korean which is what these patches do!

As much as I love sheet masks, every time I use them I’m conscious of how much single use throw away plastic there is. All come in plastic, some of the actual masks are plastic, some have the fibrous tissues protected in a plastic mask! Most masks are hydrogel or a fibrous tissue. I always say beauty products are my number on plastic consumption after food. Now sheet masks are a treat. Usually on a month when I get my acupuncture facial as part of the treatment with an electric current and then maybe another in the month if I remember. I have purchased a silicone sheet mask that’s reusable that I’ve still to use. It wasn’t much. €1 from Primor. However when it comes to sheet mask, it’s more the essence in them that I want rather than use my usual products under the silicone mask. It would be great if a beauty brand manufactures could sell the sheet mask essence separate in say a glass bottle with about 6 months supply and then be able to reuse the silicone mask. I’m not sure how the absorption would work however. Some ingredients may need the air to activate as most sheet masks are breathable. I should buy a good essence to use one in a while and use that under the silicone mask.

Anyway, Miin Cosmetics last year launched a new skincare line Onda Beauty 365. Later I found out it’s actually by Miin Cosmetics! Their very first skincare line! They’ve since launched another this year, Meisani, both conceptualised in Barcelona, Spain by Miin Cosmetics, manufactured in Seoul, South Korea.  I didn’t know at the time of purchase. I was just curious about the eye patches. I liked that they were in a pot, you get a good supply to last a few months and they can be thrown in the compost or biodegradable recycle bins due to their gel formation. All of Onda Beauty 365 products contain a high percentage of natural ingredients and all are 100% vegan (they even do solid shampoos, conditioners and cleansing soaps/bars!). Read on for my Beauty Finds requirements or skip a paragraph for the review.

I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. I also avoid palm oil and it’s derivatives as I prefer orangutans. Coconut oil marketed as the good oil I’m also cutting down on as it can be just a damaging crop as palm oil. If I do get products containing palm or coconut oil I try to get organic or sustainably sourced. With make up it’s a little harder so I go for cruelty free brands. I prefer products with less plastic and thankfully more brands are aware consumers don’t want unnecessary plastic (or governments are telling them less plastic). My skin type’s oily sensitive, acne prone and now wrinkles. I know nothing stops those lines, but if I can delay them then….

Ondo Beauty 365 Caffeine & Green Tea Antioxidant Eye Patches Review

Hydrogel eye contour patches. They help reduce the appearance of bags and under eye circles and to prevent the signs of ageing. HOW TO USE: Use the spatula to separate two patches. Apply clean skin, placing them under your eyes. Remove after 20-30 minutes and discard. Massage the remaining essence with tapping motions to improve the absorption. A frequent use may help to improve the result. Can be stored in the fridge.

I’ll admit I don’t use these as much as I should. If I don’t seen them I forget about them, even if I keep them on the bathroom vanity shelf so I see them to remember to use them. The use by date after opening is 2 months. It’s been about 10 months and there’s no funny stuff growing on them or smelling weird. You get 60 patches which if you use them every day is one month’s supply at €35.95.

Why I like them:

The make my fine lines and wrinkles way less visible for a few hours as well as making by my outer eye area plumper with a glow! They really plump up the skin cells! The green tea helps protect the skin from free radicals, pollution damage, UV rays. Niacinamide gives the skin a vitamin B3 boost to smooth and hydrate as well as reduce inflammation. Caffeine helps with blood circulation where the patches are applied with can reduce swelling and puffiness. My eye area afterwards feels hydrated, awake and looking smoother. I haven’t however used them on a regular basis to see any long term results.

Happy ingredients! Mostly happy natural ingredients. 1,2 Hexanediol and butylene glycol are the ones that stand out to me as maybe nots.

Miin Cometics has on social media I think on Instagram stories recommended that you use them in the morning with an eye cream in the evening. Given how much eye cream can cost, they do work out more expensive than eye cream however I feel the long term benefits will be good. I haven’t however used them on a regular basis to see long term results, however feel they would improve fine lines. If you have places to go when you want to look your best, they’re perfect for what they do in a short amount of time, give the outer eye area a boost. The recommend time is 20-30 minutes daily or twice a week, however 5-10 minutes is plenty. Any remaining essence on my fingers I apply to the rest of my face or décolletage. They can also be used not just under the eyes, but for spot treatment else where on your face.

The pot is great. Seals up great which means no bacteria can in while not using and stays put while traveling. The lid inside seals back easily too allowing room for the plastic spatula which I feel could be made from bamboo for more sustainability. They can be picked out with fingers. However with fingers they can tangle up on themselves so the spatula works better. If you get ekkk by lots of runny essence, these aren’t for you.

Compared to other eye patches I’ve used these have plenty of eye contour area coverage. From my inner eye, covering more than the bag area and up to mid temple area ( I have a small face 🤷‍♀️).

Any Cons?

Miin Cosmetics designed them as to not slide away from the eye area and to be worn under any other sheet mask. They stay put under a sheet mask however worn on their own there’s always one that slides down a little. They have to be applied WITHOUT any product underneath, not even toner as they will slide, move and not stay put. If any essence get in your eyes it can sting a little however it’s very mild and dissipates quickly.

As discussed they are more expensive than other eye creams if used everyday.

I didn’t see any difference in puffiness under the eyes. Usually puffiness is due to water retention, lack of sleep. I find doing facial exercises to drain puffiness under the eyes works better than applying a product. In fact sometimes they make my under eye area sometimes more puffy as I think I react to the caffeine (histamines) 🤷‍♀️

Would I recommend? If used on a regular basis yes. They do what they say on the tin! No if you’re not going to use them on a regular basis purely for the cost.
