Weekend Friday Favourites

I hope you’re having a great weekend!

Apologies for an absence of Weekend Friday Favourites recently. Spain’s officially out of lockdown after ending its State of Alarm 21st June. Things are gradually becoming back to pre covid-19 with exceptions. Climbing I can no longer drop by whenever I want. We have to book up in advance set times to climb for 2 hours. I usually end up only having 1 hour thanks to my organisational skills. I’ve picked up a class with time being all over the place. We have to wear masks in all enclosed public spaces and when we can’t self distance however Catalunya has ordered that we wear them outside even when we can social distance to avoid the spread of covid-19. If we’re caught not wearing one, €100 fine. Exceptions are exercise, eating and drinking and if you’re under 6 years old. The beach is a grey area shhhhh. Yes, beach season is back! I’m studying a great photography course on Udemy using beach time to study via their app and videos. Otherwise I’d just play games on my phone.

Anyways, Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have made me smile or caught my eye this week.

Muy Mucho Desktop USB Fan

Muy Mucho is an interior decoration shop I always like looking around doing my best to appreciate and not buy. This desktop fan was one of the impulse buys my Mum says, if you see it, get it. It’s perfect in my ‘office’ now it’s hot keeping me cool. I use an old iPhone socket charger as my Mac’s usb ports are taken for. I can’t recommend it enough if you want a small desktop fan. It’s silent too, a bargain at €5.99.

Weekend Friday Favourites

Happy March!

This was a short and sweet Weekend Friday Favourites this week of things that have made me smile or caught my eye this week. Then I got typing. Uh Oh! This week’s been all over the place however my phone’s cracked screen finally fixed, a tooth’s fixed and a few other appointments over with. And with that, things I’ve been liking this week!

Fresh Ginger Tea

I have P to thank for this! Travelling last month my allergies started playing up, we’d been cooped up in aeroplanes, so P decided in addition to hot lemon in the mornings, fresh ginger tea to help keep our immune systems up. While I put fresh ginger in my salads for the same reason I wasn’t initially keen on the taste. Now I find myself craving ginger tea in the evenings! It’s so easy to make. Chop off a piece of ginger, cut of the skin, chop up the ginger, place in mug, add hot water!

Kitsch Satin Sleep Scrunchies

I have a confession. I did get the real deal silk scrunchies from Sephora. Then vegan guilt came over me and I couldn’t find if the company let the silk worm live and accepted broken strands or boiled the worm in its cocoon alive for unbroken silk strands. I felt so bad I returned them. Unworn of course. On holiday swept up in the larger amount of choice available, I found Kitsch scrunchies in Wholefoods, knowing full well, vegan silk means polyester, they’re in plastic packaging and I’m trying to reduce my plastic. That includes packaging, clothes, however I live in leggings and sweatshirts, hello plastic microfilaments in the water system. I can’t always win. I know, excuses! I did intend to taken them back for this reason but didn’t get time. Silk is meant to be kinder to skin and hair. With silk pillows, the silk doesn’t absorb all your night beauty products and doesn’t rough up skin like cotton does, which can help fight, soften, lessen pick your choice, wrinkles. Same with silk in the hair. It doesn’t break strands. I’ve been using scrunchies for a while and appreciate with fine long hair removing them, Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”

Summer Hair Care

If you’re like me, love the beach and sea, lucky to live along the coast, have fine hair and visit the beach almost every day during the summer, your hair might not love the salt water as much as you. Over the course of summer, salt water, sweat, sunscreen, humidity can damage my hair. When it’s fine hair, damage is emphasised 3 fold.

This summer, I think I may have the damage under control. Previous years I left coconut oil in overnight after being in the sea. My hair didn’t respond well. I’ve found after rinsing salt water out in the shower, it needs some sort of moisture locked back in. I’m sure my hairdresser will have their say next time I go in, however I’m finding the following’s working out okay keeping my hair healthy this summer:

The Right Shampoo and Conditioner

More so the right conditioner. For a few years I’ve been using hairdresser recommended conditioner. While it’s natural, cruelty free, this year I decided to look for another. One reason price, the other it contained silicones which aren’t kind with Continue reading “Summer Hair Care”

Late Winter, Whispers of Spring

There’s a faintest whisper of Spring. A few trees and flowers are starting getting dressed in their greens and florals. I can’t want for Spring to officially start in 3 weeks. I appreciate coats, scarves, jumpers and multiple layers keeping me warm but I can’t wait to feel warm without being huddled under so many layers. If the weather app’s right, we’ve got a few more days of cold here before someone cranks the thermostat up enough to maybe remove one layer until next winter.

I wanted to stop by earlier in the week for a little more detailed catch up however I’ve been extra tired this week. I decided to continue indoor climbing lessons after my Continue reading “Late Winter, Whispers of Spring”

What’s Happening To Me?!

I’m not sure what’s happened. A leopard never changes its spots, right?

I always thought by not dying my hair I got out of hair treatments and expensive trips to the hairdressers. I mean no damaging bleach or other chemicals got me a free ticket to good hair. I found myself sitting in the hairdresser’s chair this week laughing at my self wondering what’s happened to me. Back in my 20’s you’d never have found me in trainers, duvet/puffer coats, wearing less make up than I wear now, using cotton toe as a handbag, having higher maintenance hair or even long healthy looking hair.

Now I wear trainers. This is thanks to being told after nearly tearing my Achilles I can’t wear heels or plimsoles anymore not that I was wearing heels back then. I wore slip on or lace up plimsoles. Only low heels or trainers were allowed as they were kinder to feet. Trainers were in the rehab stage Continue reading “What’s Happening To Me?!”
