High Winds

The sunshine today holds whispers of Spring. Well after 4 days of heavy wind and rain any sunshine on a Winter’s day has you feeling Spring. Right now I’m patiently waiting for Spring, more than anything for the opportunity to wear lighter layers, be able to dress a little more chic. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate my jumpers, warm scarves, gloves and coat, but the thought of feeling the warm sunshine on my skin has me counting down the days. Especially as the next few days are back to cold grey. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASince the wind started battering the coast last Thursday, most days it’s been taking chances in in-between rain showers to go outside running errands, running, or to break up cabin fever. The wind’s been so bad I was unable to have the balcony doors open. Nooo! I could if I wanted them to continuously bang and even with propping a cushion between the acting door jam cat scratcher and the door, the wind’s been too strong, cold and rain coming in. Cycling and running one way in wind was fun, the other way battling it not so. The police Saturday cordoned off all beach accesses and were night patrolling along them which they only really do in summer. Tuesday they lifted the tape making surfers happy and everybody else as the sun was out (aka fair weather people. Grey skies returned yesterday with a fraction of people were out).OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The sea did some beach rearranging, claiming back more beach which she does most winters. She didn’t this year dump about 2 years of rubbish on the beaches like she did back in 2008/9. I think it took about over a week to remove it all. I think since then the Guardia Urbana have a team of divers that at the end of each beach season clean up what they can. Sadly they can’t get the Chupa Chupa lollipop sticks, straws or tiny swizzle sticks from the chringuitos. Every time I run them or sun siesta I’m constantly picking up straws. She did leave however a few carpets of shells. Heaven!

Always I’ll leave you with photos of the past few days and yes there’s a zoo visit.

Do you get bad Winter storms where you are? They’re not so bad here in the summer as at least it’s warm!
