January 2020 Wolf Moon

January’s Wolf Moon or to be precise February’s waxing Snow Moon was a little extra Special. I got to see the moon from the other side of the world! A Northern California and a Hawaiian Oahu moon. A moon so bright and clear in the lesser polluted skies of Hawaii. Even the stars seemed bigger and brighter. I won’t lie I didn’t want to leave Oahu (or California. Big slap in the face when back). As much as I love the mountains there’s something about the sea and ocean that draws me. If I’ve been inland a while seeing the sea and ocean I feel complete as much as I can if that makes sense.

December’s Cold Moon

December’s Cold moon’s always magical. The days are shorter, the sun sits lower in the sky lightening up the moon something spellbinding. I don’t think any other month the moon is so visible in sky. The moon has a glow that no other month can match.

This is a hard post to write. Not because of the moon but because leading up the 18th December 2019 my photos are filled with Mr D the cat. Lots of tears coming across them. I’ve never shared here on before 2 weeks last year before his brother Mr AJ said his last see you later, I dreamt about tornadoes outside my window. So many tornadoes. Looking up what tornadoes in dreams mean and the colour they meant a death was soon. I also dreamt of floods or rather my apartment outside being underwater while the apartment was airtight and the washing outside survived. A few weeks before Mr D said his last see you later I kept seeing a lot of jackdaws at the zoo. It’s not like I’ve never seen or heard them there before. This time I wanted to be sure what bird they were if they were jackdaws from the zoo’s resident wild bird list. As I kept seeing so many I looked up their meaning. You guessed it, some cultures see them as a sign of a death soon. Now I think nothing of them as I hear them all the time there. No message there! And lets not mention a dark presence I felt in the corner ceiling one evening before D went. I think that was more I knew what was happening with my mind playing tricks. All I know is I miss those 2 little boys.

One or Two Photos

Can I start 2016 with the Lunar New Year next week?

After feeling like I was about to loose it last week, I took a hiatus last week and part of this week from blogging. January and burnt out!

It has been a few months in the making with last week feeling somewhat teary eyed, tired and a bit helpless. I won’t go into it, but as much as I’d like to blog every day (Mon to Fri), I have to accept that’s not gonna happen. It gets frustrating having ideas, epic night naps and nothing gets done. I still don’t know where the days go and it gets/got frustrating not being able to everything and still sleep. Don’t even ask about my sleep schedule. It’s all over the place, black bags rather padded black bags have to sort them before they become permeant are en vogue. And realising you haven’t seen season 3 and 4 of Luther and then watching the first 2 episodes of season 3 on your own in the dark will really mess it up. I hid behind the blanket peeking out when the suspense got too much. There’s a reason aside from dust balls I don’t like beds with legs!

Anywho, still running, cycling, training, playing cat mama, getting excited in Miin and Sephora, forever dreaming of longer days when the sun plays until 10pm. And taking photos of …..

Please excuse the quality of the photos. I was pushing my bike, lots of people pushing and shoving with my camera in my rucksack. I did get a shot of a VW Beetle (Herbie!) but it’s too bad quality it show. Lots of Porches, Minis and old school Fiats. I bet it’s a great race to participate in! Start 2016 Barcelona to Monte Carlo Rally2016 Barcelona to Monte Carlo Rally2016 Barcelona to Monte Carlo Rally

Beach runs during the week. It doesn’t help my pace, but I always pause for few moments to take in the sea. And any shells that might catch my eye, insert see no evil emoji monkey. Run View

2 Cormorants diving running last Friday. My mood was a grey as the sky. Seeing these guys cheered me up (and their spirit animal meaning). Cormorants Switching up long runs with an equally long bike ride. 40km if including racing to the zoo. All out both directions! Long bike ride! Trying out my new lightweight skipping rope! I definitely noticed the difference to my gyms old rope one. Taking my own means I don’t have to wait if it’s in use. Skipping is one of my favourite cardio choices. I’m always surprised by how many people have trouble initially getting coordination skipping. If you master the basic boxer step, it’s a great total body workout. The types of steps are endless!Decathlon skipping ropeSadly I haven’t been doing as much yoga as I’d have liked. The knock on effect is poor posture and tight calves. Not good! Weekly Photo Challenge Grid

This weeks challenge is a little tricky for me. While I try to balance out my photos, proportion them, use the rule of 3 etc, I haven’t many photos of straight lines, right angles, grids. Sharp angles are man made, many of my photos are of nature, so here’s my spin on grids! Enjoy!

I always feel sorry of for the parakeets and parrots in this aviary. This guy, I chat with. They can mimic a few sounds and he can say Hola! When I say hola, he walks across the branches and down the fencing to to ‘chat’. There’s another bird, a Hill Myna who does exactly the same in another enclosure when I say hello, expect he flies over and we wolf whistle, the usual ‘dog calling’ whistle, say ¡Hola Guapo! at each other! I’m teaching him/her hello, but he just says adieu. When I leaving saying adieu, he mimics me perfectly!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Vivid

It’s been threatening to rain since Monday afternoon. Whispy clouds that strike late afternoon, blocking the sun, making beach siestas a little chilly. Today, the weather meant business. The wind changed direction, the temperature dropped, long story short, I got caught out cycling in a down pour while the sun still shined (no rainbows, that I could find!). This time of year, late spring and all summer long, it’s happy rain, warm and the wind warm too, so if you get caught out, you dry off pretty quickly.

Happy rain or cold winter rain, rain makes everything grey, so bright colours are always welcome. This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge, Vivid. Enjoy!

Yes, my camaras back and while I can’t upload from iPhoto library to WordPress or drag across due to restore problems, photo stream’s working!
