Beauty Finds: Sioris My Soft Grain Scrub Review

Welcome to Beauty Finds. This edition is Sioris My Soft Grain Scrub review.

While there are a few hmm ingredients in a few Sioris products, Sioris has to be one of my favourite Kbeauty brands. Heavily featured are natural ingredients, Sioris is cruelty free and vegan. A few products such as Calm Me Down Cream and Deep In Barrier Cream, the ingredients can vary seasonally depending on what’s available for harvest. The colour may vary because of this and to be honest  I haven’t noticed a different when I’ve used the 2 lotions with the different ingredients. Long term readers know I’m all about natural ingredients and helping nature through skincare. Sioris contributes back to nature via Forests For Life and are also a member of 1% For The Planet. This only makes me love the brand more!

While my go to facial scrub is Kora Organics Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask 2-in-1. Sometimes I don’t have time for a mask. Sometimes a girl has to shower and go. Initially I wasn’t going to purchase My Soft Grain scrub as I didn’t need it. I was happy with Kora Organics Turmeric mask. However curiosity got to me. I’m glad it did. Read on for my beauty requirements or skip a paragraph for the review.

I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. I also avoid palm oil and it’s derivatives as I prefer orangutans. Coconut oil marketed as the good oil I’m also cutting down on as it can be just a damaging crop as palm oil. If I do get products containing palm or coconut oil I try to get organic or sustainably sourced. With make up it’s a little harder so I go for cruelty free brands. I prefer products with less plastic and thankfully more brands are aware consumers don’t want unnecessary plastic (or governments are telling them less plastic). My skin type’s oily sensitive, acne prone and now wrinkles. I know nothing stops those lines, but if I can delay them then….

Sioris My Soft Grain Scrub

A grain scrub contains Organic Oat Meal powder that helps clean pores and slough off dead skin cells without any irritation, for visibly cleaner and smoother skin.

Directions. Mix the milk cleanser and the grain scrub together. Gently massage onto damp skin and rinse with warm water.

Instead of mixing it with Sioris milk cleanser it can be used with any foaming cleaner. I mix a little with Urang Creamy Bubble Foam Cleanser, massage into my face and then rinse or rather wipe away with a damp muslin cloth. Sometimes I have to repeat with the muslin cloth a a few times as the particles can be stubborn to wipe away.

Sometimes my face feels cleaner but more often than not it doesn’t feel as clean as using Kora Organics turmeric mask after washing my face. While both My Soft Grain Scrub and Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask are physical facial scrubs, Kora is more aggressive using ground rosehip seed powder as the abrasive to remove dead cells and also has a few more chemical exfoliators such as aspen bark extract. Sioris uses oat flour and rice powder and hulls as the exfoliate. These are more gentle so the initial feeling of my skin feels squeaky clean and all dead skin, nasty other stuff on my face is removed is different. Sometimes Kora Organics Turmeric mask can hurt a little massaging in if my skin is having a sensitive day. With My Soft Grain Scrub it’s doesn’t hurt applying.

Happy ingredients!

That is until I apply toner, essence etc afterwards. That’s when I notice how much smoother my skin feels. Like baby soft smooth. My makeup later goes on beautifully later. Both scrubs used on different days work well in conjunction with each other. One to say more deep cleanse exfoliate and the other to lightly deep cleanse.

It takes a while to work out how much is needed and a little goes a long way. €17.95 for 45ml and it lasts a long time so it’s good value for money.

Any Cons?

Yes. I find when applying make up later pieces of it in my hair! Don’t ask how. I just do.

It can get messy. The bottle can be tricky to open when you have a palm of cleanser in one hand and trying to unscrew it without spilling cleanser everywhere. The lid has quite a long twist to open it! However this also keeps in dry in the bathroom in-between uses as opposed to a flip top lid. Now I sprinkle some of the scrub in my hand then pump the cleanser. Less spillage.

You can pour too much out. Thankfully the bottle neck is long enough you can scoop up any excess providing it’s not wet.

The scent is interesting. But then its ground up rice and oats so it has a very kitchen flour smell.

I personally found I didn’t like used alone with water which you can do. I prefer using a cleanser that helps spread it out.

The packaging is plastic.

Would I recommend? Yes! Even with my skin that’s sensitive, likes acne, it’s gentle enough without aggravating acne that I have. If you want a gentle yet powerful exfoliator that doesn’t feel like your skin has been scrub raw this is it!
