Weekend Friday Favourites

I feel like the school kid who left all their weekend homework until Sunday evening. Which is exactly what I’m doing. Things like Netflix and Birthday Christmas shopping came up. I’ve also been somewhat glued to the news after the attacks in Paris Friday. My thoughts are with the families and the first responders. They do an amazing job and I don’t think anything prepares you for what they have to deal with in their jobs.

Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have been making me smile this week or caught my eye. It’s meant to be a Friday thing, hence being Weekend Friday Favourites.

Aj and DHandsome and he knows it. AJDiesel loves boxes

Both boys have got their winter coats so are extra snuggly when they want to be. Catch That Cat’s begun when it’s Aj’s medicine time. While he’s a easy cat to give his tablets to, he knows 7/10 when it’s medicine time! Diesel’s still the official chicken timer. 1 more week of cooking chicken and fingers crossed they can return to crunch or a mix. No, I’m still not tempted to try any chicken.

Oysho BathrobeOysho Bathrobe

This is basically a blanket disguised as a robe. I’m know I’m not the only one that wears blankets around the house a shawl when it’s really cold. The evenings are chilly and this works way better than a blanket shawl, especially when I actually watch TV. The blanket blanket goes like a cocoon around my legs. Oh so glamourous.

Focus Training/ CYQ Outdoor Fitness Coach Course

I received a letter saying I passed my course! I’m now officially an Outdoor Fitness Coach!

Sea Cycling In MondayCalm sea

It’s been windy for weeks and Monday was the first calm day in ages! The sea was like glass!

H&M’s Peachy Keen Nail PolishH&M Peachy Keen Nail Polish

I really hope H&M keep this shade in their permeant collection and it’s not a temporary shade. It’ll be perfect for the summer and is now my new favourite shade of pinky orange!

PorcupinePorcupine, Barcelona ZooThese guys are quite elusive at the zoo. They make an appearance around sunset and if you’re lucky you get to see them. They make cute noises but I don’t want to be on the wrong side of them like these poor dogs.

What’s been making you smile this week? Have a great week!

October Beauty Finds

Daylight saving ended a week ago and I’m already being caught out with sunset at 6pm. 5pm comes and and I suddenly realise there´s less than 1 hour until it gets dark. Where did the day go? It’s no secret I don’t like shorter days. Christmas with all it’s lights (can you believe in less than 8 weeks it´s Christmas then 9 weeks until the New Year?) should be at the end of January, the longest coldest month as the Christmas lights brighten up the short days and long dark evenings. That’s if it ever gets chilly here. This month’s been unusually warm. It feels like everyone’s on standby for the cold to start. But if you live in the Southern Hemisphere, you’re heading into Summer. Lucky ducks!

I have just 3 requirements when it comes to skin care and cosmetics products. Not tested on animals, as natural as possible, no parabens, SLS, petrochemicals etc and containing no animal ingredients      I’m aware of (some get through, I eat honey, so if it has beeswax, I can´t complain). With cosmetics the last 2 can be tricky, so I go with what I can find!

Tangle Teezer, The Original. Professional Detangling Hairbrush for Wet and Dry hairTangle Teezer The Original

I’ve been using Tangle Teezer´s travel wet and dry detangling brush throughout the summer after dips in the sea and loved it. My at home hairbrush needed replacing so I opted for The Original Tangle Teezer. It’s very kind and gentle getting out the tangles from cycling, with few split ends. I usually brush my hair before washing it, then go comb with a wide tooth comb afterwards. I’ve yet to use this one on wet hair after showering, but having been caught in the rain and using this, it’s kind to wet hair and tangles. Comb and tangles not so nice. When I brush out the tangles at the end of the day, it doesn’t puff up my hair like other brushes, which is always a good thing! It’s palm friendly, so it’s easy to use right or left handed. The original Tangle Teezer

H&M Beauty, Nail Polish Flamingo FlushH&M Nail Polish Flamingo Flush

I love this polish! I can’t say what it´s like in the summer with suncream (I only paint my toes and at the beach slap suncream on everywhere, which you should be doing! However suncream has a tendency to stain everything. Nail polish included), but it’s kept it’s shine and not chipped. The price is nice too €4.99, plus I love the cool names H&M give their polishes! I like it so much I got 2 more colours, Milky Tea (nod to being British) and Peachy Keen (nod to the Pink Ladies and one of my all time favourite movies!)H&M Beauty, Nail Polish

H&M Beauty, Brush Cleanser SprayH&M Brush Cleaner Spray

I usually clean my brushes every 1-2 weeks with Dr Bronner Unscented Pure Castile Liquid Soap. Now it’s getting cooler, the powder brush takes ages to air dry completely before I can use (I’ve been known to use a hairdryer on it!). I thought this would help avoid waiting 15 hours or more for it to air dry. It works, but it’s more like dry shampoo and wet wipes, a quick fix until I can clean them throughly. I was’t too keen on the smell with the brushes not feeling as clean as with Dr Bronner. But in a pinch it’s great!

Lemon WaterHot Lemon

Since I was sick a month ago (I swear coffee made me worship the porcelain god), I’ve hardly had any coffee, save the odd cup or 2. Instead I’ve replaced my morning coffee with hot lemon water and afternoon coffee with peppermint tea, the only dietary changes I’ve made recently. I suffer from cystic acne and when lady’s holiday arrived, I didn’t have one cyst spot! That made me think, I’ve hardly had any spots aside blackheads recently. A quick Google search, revealed coffee can cause acne! I haven’t had any withdrawal symptoms (headaches) from not having any coffee and I feel cleaner and lighter for not running on it! I even crave lemon water first thing now! I’m not saying adieu to coffee, just see you later as I’ll still have a cup or 2 every now and then!

Coffee, tea or lemon water before you can take to anyone in the mornings? What are your latest beauty finds and tricks?

Weekend Friday Favourites

Wifi is back! 3 days without internet and only 4G, I felt a little lost. I couldn’t ask Google random questions that pop up or watch many videos. Ok, maybe a few I asked which resulted in topping up mobile data. It’s alarming how much we rely on it. On holiday I know there’ll be limited internet access and accept that. But when you’re used to it 24/7 to be without it, you realise how much you use it. And I didn’t get any more done than usual without it!

I hope you’re having a great weekend! We actually have some plans this weekend to go exploring outside the city, if the weather cooperates. Rain and motorbikes don’t go well together. Anyways, Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have been making me smile this week or have caught my eye.

Forever21 Rabbit SlippersForever21 Rabbit Slippers

These have been keeping my tootsies warm all week! I couldn’t resist them when I spied them in Forever21. They were leaving with me. Somehow I’ve managed to keep them clean for a week, but I don’t think it’ll be too long until Miss Graceful spills tea on them.Forever21 Rabbit Slippers

Nectarine, Pineapple, Strawberry, Lime and Coconut Water SmoothiePineapple, lime, nectarine, strawberry, coconut water smoothie

The past few weeks, I’ve been making an effort to make smoothies at least on run days, to get more energy in. I throw in spinach or kale in every now and then, but I prefer fruit only smoothies. This was delicious and the lime adds a twist.

SunshineSun's back!

After a week of being grey and overcast, sunny skies returned Thursday and Friday (as did all the beach goers). Sunshine always makes us feel a little more happier or puts a spring in your step!

Aj and DBreakfast with Mr AJSleepzzzzz MR D

They’ve been working the chicken scam again this week. Aj’s going back to the vets next week for tests. He’s been losing weight, has had tummy issues for a while and the vet now wants to start running tests ruling out possible causes. Both are on chicken all weekend until Aj’s appointment. D might have a thyroid problem, which would explain his crying wailing at odd times. The vet however wants to treat Aj first, then Mr D. I swear it’s just a ploy for chicken instead of crunch and excuse to sleep all day in a chicken coma.

H&M Plush Kabuki BrushHM Plush Kabuki Brush

I love this brush! I’ve been using Sephora brushes as aside from El Corte Ingles (Spain’s only department store) it’s the only place to find good quality brushes. Sephora own brand’s got competition! With this brush, powder stays put for longer and it hasn’t been clogging the compact powder surface as much, which I found the Sephora brushes were doing. It’s a little cheaper than Sephora’s too, €9.99.

TRX Pendulum Swingspendulum-412

I can do TRX oblique ab tucks (both knees to one shoulder) fine, but pendulum swings take it to another level! The trick is not to use momentum and use the abs. They’re sneaky. Much harder than they look, but are fun!

What’s been making you smile this week? Have a great weekend!

Weekend Friday Favourites

Friday Favourites is baaaack after a 2 week break! I’ll try and keep it short now I’m back in the routine of back to normal. I’m looking forward to this weekend once I get my outdoor fitness coursework finished. This last weekend of summer is meant to be a little warmer of late and as I’ve been brought up work before play (which is so instilled even though I caught my Mum a few years ago on a visit back, sitting doing crosswords when she said she would be making the bed and cleaning the bathrooms. For years she drummed it in to me ‘work before play’ when she says it now I laugh saying ‘Oh yeah? Crosswords!’. I gave myself permisson to slack after that, but not too much.) I’m hoping I get studying finished in time to enjoy some sun!

Anyways, Friday Favourites, things that have been making me smile this week or have caught my eye.

Arnie’s Words of Wisdom

fromtrextotigress posted this a few weeks ago and I agree 100%. I just need to apply it to blogging and my personal training business. Always work in progress!

Aj and D

Just because! Diesel’s favourite day I think was when their food and ‘toilet paper’ delivery came. AJ love snacks (part of the their breakfast and dinner that I place around the apartment so they ‘hunt’) from tunnel.

H&M Cat Tape DispenserHM Black Cat Tape Dispenser

Like I need another tape dispenser (I have their Flamingo one from last year), but I couldn’t pass it up!

Graffiti in El BornGraffiti El Borne

Cycling through El Borne this week, this crow caught my eye.

H&M BeautyHM Beauty Department Las RamblasHM Beauty Department Las Ramblas

I was just a little excitement when I found out last week, H&M’s beauty line launched in Spain! Not just make up, but skin care and hair care at affordable prices. It’s cruelty free, organic, Ecocert-certified, and sustainable! No parabens, GMO’s etc (though I did read paraffin oil in a few eyeshadows). If only they did reward points like Sephora, it’ll be perfect! So far their Sea Mist Salt Water Spray is surprisingly good (nothing like K&K’s Beach Waves Sea Salt Texture Spray. That is amazing aside the international shipping price) and I may have purchases a few other items.

Pebbles From GreeceGreek Pebbles

Nearly every time I go to the beach, I come back with shells or pebbles. They go in a jar or dish. One jar, dish per year or country. They’re like gemstones to me!

Mangabey Monkeys, Peahens, Bats and DragonfliesBats and Dragonflies

The zoo’s still open until 8pm until the first day of Autumn next week. It’s a great time at the moment to be there to hear the birds settle to roost and see bats out hunting. Even dragonflies are still up 20 minutes before sunset! You can just make one out by the near middle.

You don’t look like me! One of the younger mangabey monkeys who was equally as curious as the peahen she was of him.Mangabey Monkey and Peahen, Barcelona Zoo

Press Up with Lateral Sandbag Dragsandbag-pushup_0

These have always been a favourite of mine. Works just about everything! I also like the 2nd variation  here and move forward in a plank to drag it again rather than push it back (some space required!). Trick is to stay in a plank position and the sandbag maintain contact with the ground.
