Rain Stops Play

Waking up to blue skies this morning after four days of rain and wind was a happy sight.IMG_2913

A quiet weekend as the rain put a damper on activities. No bike rides as I learnt that my waterproofs aren’t as water proof as I thought Thursday. Plus I didn’t want to get wet and cold for the sake of it. I generally don’t mind cycling in the rain, but when it’s heavy I do.

Saturday was a day of spring cleaning the rainy day jobs with a workout and a bit beach combing in-between. When the rain eased up in the evening and suffering from cabin fever, we went for a walk along the Cap d’Antibes. The sea had decided as she does every now and then to give back all the rubbish dumped in her, back onto the beaches. The light wasn’t good and I hadn’t intended to, but I ended picking up a plastic oil can, an odd lighter, bottle rings, a bag (nothing inside but sand. No gold I checked!) and other bits and pieces in the bin. A lot of animals mistake plastic rubbish for food or get caught up in it, so I do my bit when I can. IMG_2791 IMG_2807

Italian for dinner. I wanted pizza and Paul wanted pasta pomadoro. In the end, mini vegan pizzas: tomato, mushroom and nutritional yeast, pasta pomadoro and a peanut salad. Full tummies afterwards!IMG_2823

Sunday wasn’t a complete wash out. Rain or no rain, we were running in the park. I asked Paul when we got there if he wanted to run the road instead. ‘Like f*%k I do!’. Compared to the sunny skies last week, there were just a handful of runners including ourselves and a few dog walkers. My Asics are no longer white, but completely worth it. 10km of muddy trails. Happy campers afterwards! We weren’t the only happy campers. The ducks were happy their pond was now a lake.

By the time we got back and lunched we would have only had an hour at Monaco Aquarium. It’s meant to be good and as we’ve never been before we wanted more than an hour to look around. Maybe next weekend we’ll see fish looking back at us thinking how weird we look.

How do you get through days of endless ran that fall on a weekend? Do you take crazy photos after running with company too?!
