August not only is the hottest month in Spain, it’s also the unofficial national holiday month. Government offices, a few local businesses will close for the afternoons. Some take the whole month off using up all their annual holiday and aside from tourists spots places slow down taking it easy as temps go up.
I’ve accepted with both cats on medicine numerous times of day, holidays are only if cats can come. In the past, I’ve had friends or colleagues look after (more…)
I waited until the rain had stopped Sunday morning before running. I don’t mind running in the rain, however the rain was meant to stop half way through my run and as it was warmish I didn’t want deal with running tying jackets around my waist. I took advantage of waiting to get some overdue tidying done. That was until we went to Ikea this week to replace some shelving units, pulled everything out that I’ve still to go through along with rearranging furniture. The changes are better, so much space opened up!
Parc del Garraf
Run done in perfect running weather and hardly anyone out (even better!) (more…)
This weekend made me realise just how much I love/need the sea, colour and nature. I might live in a city, however I’m lucky enough to live in a more open part of it, see the sea, greenery and of course I’m a 25 minutes fast cycle (21 min sprint) to the zoo, my own tropical garden during late summer afternoons when everybody’s at the beach. My Mum always says you can take the girl out the country but you can’t take the country out the girl.
I hope you had a great long weekend! Aside from realising I need colour (more…)
While I was quite content last holiday puente weekend just to hang out the cats and spend extra time at the beach, come Monday I craving a mini explore somewhere.
I toyed with cycling around Port Vell. It’s not a part of the city I go much and the sea front along Port Vell and Moll de Bosch i Alsina is kinda picturesque. As the beaches were busy, the port would have been equally as busy. I didn’t have time to go to the Botanic Jardins (they’re been on my summer to go list all summer!) and was craving a greenery fix even though I’d been the zoo the day before. I would have gone to the zoo, but I limit to 2 times a week so I don’t get too bored or overtired of it. It was about an hour until sunset, so there was only one place I knew in cycling distance with greenery, Parc de la Ciutadella. Okay, no a mini adventure as I cycling through it a few times a month. I didn’t escape the holiday crowds as it was packed with people and Pokemon Go. However if you head towards the Parliament buildings, you can find quiet pockets no matter the season. If it’s sunny near sunset, hazy sunshine. Enjoy!
