Chocolates Solé Chocolate Puro Dark Chocolate República Dominicana Sweetended With Agave

Another bio shop find! This chocolate is perfect if you want processed sugar free chocolate. Instead of cane sugar is sweetened with agave! It’s a little expensive about €2.30 for however it’s really quite nice without leaving a nasty after taste which some chocolate containing sugar can. It also hasn’t got the bitter taste of dark chocolate either. Ingredients are minimal with other flavours including chilli, cinnamon, olive oil, raspberries, ginger among so many more flavours Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”

Today I’m sharing some plastic free, eco friendly, biodegradable, some sustainable aside from packaging sponges. Both for body and general household cleaning. Some even double up being a twofer! Obviously not the same exact sponge! Scrub-a-Dub-Dub! Couldn’t resist 😉

Beauty Finds: Cruelty Free, Reef Friendly, Tried and Tested European Body Sunscreens

I spent all summer long testing out sunscreens. It was hard. Daily beach trips for about an hour, testing out their waterproofness in the sea, running outside and if that doesn’t make me a good candidate for testing them, I burn within an hour. Making me perhaps one of the best candidates 😉

There are 2 types of sunscreen. Chemical where the skin absorbs the chemicals that stop your skin burning and physical or mineral sunscreens which reflect the sun rays. Physical sunscreens are considered to be more reef friendly as they’re less likely to contain toxic ingredients that kill reefs and marine life. Reef’s are vital part in our ecosystems. They protect coastlines from damaging effects from waves, storms, floods, provide habitat and shelter for marine life, assist in carbon and nitrogen fixing, provide nitrogen and other nutrients for marine food chained amongst others. I dip in the sea almost daily during the summer, I didn’t want to be part of the reef killing sunscreens anymore. Physical sunscreens are typically made from Continue reading “Beauty Finds: Cruelty Free, Reef Friendly, Tried and Tested European Body Sunscreens”

Summer Hair Care

If you’re like me, love the beach and sea, lucky to live along the coast, have fine hair and visit the beach almost every day during the summer, your hair might not love the salt water as much as you. Over the course of summer, salt water, sweat, sunscreen, humidity can damage my hair. When it’s fine hair, damage is emphasised 3 fold.

This summer, I think I may have the damage under control. Previous years I left coconut oil in overnight after being in the sea. My hair didn’t respond well. I’ve found after rinsing salt water out in the shower, it needs some sort of moisture locked back in. I’m sure my hairdresser will have their say next time I go in, however I’m finding the following’s working out okay keeping my hair healthy this summer:

The Right Shampoo and Conditioner

More so the right conditioner. For a few years I’ve been using hairdresser recommended conditioner. While it’s natural, cruelty free, this year I decided to look for another. One reason price, the other it contained silicones which aren’t kind with Continue reading “Summer Hair Care”

Weekend Friday Favourites

Welcome to a long over due Weekend Friday Favourites. Things that have made me smile or caught my eye recently.

Excuses as to why I’ve been absent lately I’m blaming here on Mercury being in retrograde. That’s my excuse! Anyway I hope you’re having a great weekend and lets get into this week’s hopefully short and sweet Weekend Friday Favourites

Jata Hogar Mini Manual Chopper

Out shopping with ChefPaulGuru aka P a few months back he got all excited coming across this mini manual chopper. My face was probably really, you excited over this?! Before he was here for a few months I started making smashed chickpea and avocado salads. He said this would be perfect for chopping them up. It wasn’t that expensive, about €10 and knowing unless I had examples made I probably wouldn’t use it, made a few salads with it. It really is easy to use and I use it about Continue reading “Weekend Friday Favourites”
