Recycle Less Update #3

I’ve been mentioning in a few posts I’m trying to reduce my waste, particularly plastic waste, so thought I’d do another progress check in!

It’s been getting hard to find non plastic alternatives and the more you read about zero waste more it becomes not only reducing plastic consumption, but where you shop, company ethics, sustainable resources.

I’ll confess it’s been a little difficult the past few months reducing waste from what I have so far. So much food comes plastic wrapped even organic in local supermarket and I’ve been online shopping. Amazon requires non books to be wrapped in plastic inside the shipping packet and there’s so much packaging waste! I don’t think my local shops are up to me bringing in my own cotton produce bags. I completely understand the produce bagging, packaging and everything in relation to anti theft, protecting the product, but the amount to plastic recycled every few days even with trying to be careful about how much is unbelievable. Times it by your neighbours waste, your street, your town, city’s waste it’s scary.

The reason why I want to reduce my waste, namely plastic disposable waste

This is a first in a series of switch outs as I make my way to producing less waste, in particular plastic consumption. I don’t think I’ll ever be 100% zero waste, but the choices I make I can make a substantial difference in the amount of plastic I consume. Aside from the usual switches all over YouTube (skin care, water bottles etc) I’ve included kitchen and laundry switch outs. Skin care is the hardest for me to reduce as I love my beauty products!

Recycle Less. YouTube Made Me Do It

I’ve been thinking about this post for a while. I’m vegan and try to be environmentally friendly conscious however you call it. I’m also finding myself which is probably part of growing up (not age as age makes you sound old) not buying into the hype or wanting so many possessions.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Zero waste, minimalism and fast fashion kept popping up on my YouTube feed as I’ve been watching tiny houses. I don’t even know if it was tiny houses or how I found tiny houses on YouTube rabbit warren trip that lead me to them. However they kept popping up and YouTube made me realise I’m not that environmentally friendly. I use a huge deal of disposable items,

Weekend Friday Favourites

The evenings are now beginning to feel like November evenings I remember growing up. The ones with that crisp autumnal chill that bites as the temps transition to colder months. While I’ve climatised to Spanish/Catalan temps, my *internal seasonal body clock’s still programmed for British winters. I brace myself every year for those chilly October nights that never come. November I’m still in lighter weight jackets thinking I should be snug in a winter coat. I guess those cold, pretty winter days growing up made a mark. I’ve haven’t seen frost since I was last in the UK a few years ago. I forgot how pretty frost covered fields and trees are in the morning light. I don’t miss however frozen feet, defrosting windshields or negotiating ice!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

* Summer it’s well and truly adjusted!
