October 2023 was hot. Hot hot. I was able to snorkel until about the 12th of October when the nights got dark earlier and the water too cold to go in. Usually I can swim in the sea until about mid September.

While I love the summer heat, I was beginning to tire of it. I was ready for jeans and a light jacket. I didn’t want the pressure of going swimming because I could. I love snorkelling, seeing my fish friends, however it was getting too much to fit everything. I knew I would miss being in the water and didn’t have long to be able too, I was secretly relieved the shorter days and colder water made it difficult to go. Summer’s short here. It can start in May or it can start late June. Summer with temps 27C+ are July and August. September it starts to cool, so I have about 2.5-3 months of if weather and sea allows swimming. I think most people were getting fed up the coolness of autumn fall wasn’t coming. We wanted a respite from the heat. It’s human’s fault, the cause of climate change, so we have to get used the longer hotter summers.

The never ending heat didn’t match the light. As the light started to move from summer’s coolness to warm autumn fall and shorter days it felt eerie somedays. Autumn when it did arrive didn’t leave for winter. Only for a week was winter 2024 cold and even then it wasn’t as cold like previous winters.

I didn’t take many photos in October. Well I did, but none that weren’t of fish or the zoo as I was too busy being in the water in the evenings, so this post is short 🫢
Common octopus hunting. It was unfazed by me and the fish hanging around for plankton snacks it swept up in the water easing its way around the rocks, opening up like an umbrella for snacks it found. I shared a short reel on my Instagram of its hunt.
Not the greatest photo but cute! Baby peahen

I pass through this park regularly and don’t know if this bus stop still there. I don’t look! It was a random look up, oh has that always been there? It made me laugh as no buses can access this park. Maybe it’s a sun shelter for employees during events.

How boots fit mannequins. I was a little shocked to see the boot was ruined or how attached for a shop display. All I saw was more fashion waste. In addition as it was so hot still, winter boots were far from my mind. Primark.
