I love a little shimmer on my eyelids but find most powder shimmer eyeshadows age me a little. Growing up in the early days of the internet, beauty sites weren’t around yet. Beauty tips were from non existent friends or magazines. Nobody said don’t rub your eyelids too much removing eye make up. Over time this can cause creepy skin lids 🙋♀️. Any shimmer shadow will emphasise this. I still out of habit rub my eyes removing eye makeup 🤦♀️. In addition I find more shimmer eyeshadows feel like they’re drying out my lids too and feel heavy to wear. I’ve been using Honest Beauty Eyeshadow Palette as it was the only brand I can find that does pressed powder without talc. I’ve recently discovered Freshly Cosmetics also do a talc free eyeshadow palette: Mineral Eyeshadow Palette although the quality isn’t as good. Pallets workout expensive for me as I only really use one shade. I have yet to find a brand that produces individual pans of talc free eyeshadow minus petroleum. This summer however I wanted a little shimmer and decided to go for a cream shadow. Cream eyeshadows sit better on my lids than powder or rather feel nicer.
Not many brands do a cream eyeshadows or a multi stick. Those that do had petroleum in which is no go with me. Some do a highlight stick but it isn’t suitable for eyelids. The only one I could find that was cruelty free, somewhat clean ingredients with a bonus of being vegan was Milk Makeup Highlight in Lit. It wasn’t cheap for a gamble. Read ahead for my beauty requirements or skip a paragraph for the review.
I have a few requirements when it comes to beauty products: cruelty free, natural, clean, vegan better. I do my best to avoid nasty ingredients such as SLSs, parabens, PEGs, silicones, etc. Petrochemicals are the sneakiest with so many derivatives and aliases. I also avoid palm oil and it’s derivatives as I prefer orangutans. Coconut oil marketed as the good oil I’m also cutting down on as it can be just a damaging crop as palm oil. If I do get products containing palm or coconut oil I try to get organic or sustainably sourced. With make up it’s a little harder so I go for cruelty free brands. I prefer products with less plastic and thankfully more brands are aware consumers don’t want unnecessary plastic (or governments are telling them less plastic). My skin type’s oily sensitive, acne prone and now wrinkles. I know nothing stops those lines, but if I can delay them then….

I was a little concerned that it would be too gold and not subtle as I would have liked. I just wanted a little flicker of gold to bring out the green of my eyes. Thankfully I got lucky!
The photo, 2 photos below shows the swatch much more rose gold than it is. It’s more a light gold despite it’s appearance. It applies easily. I just swipe the highlight as it is across my lid and blend out the corners with my fingers. The colour is perfect for what I was looking for. The ingredients are clean with just one being synthetic. It does contain silicone however my eyelids don’t get clogged my pores do.

Any cons as that sounds good!
Yes! As mentioned in my beauty requirements I have oily skin. That includes my eyelids. I have people saying don’t put any eye cream on your lids and others saying put eye cream on your lids as they’re dry. I apply Kora Organics Noni Eye Oil as my lids needs something! This I know being an oil will affect what I put on top even a few hours later.
I use currently NYX Shadow and Liner Ultimate Primer which I can’t say is great (maybe it’s the eye oil underneath) then apply eyeshadow then Milk Makeup Highlight over the top. There is creasing straight away however nowhere as near as to what there is without any eyeshadow primer. I have just purchased Too Faced Shadow Insurance 24+ Hour Eyeshadow Primer so maybe the lid situation will change. I like this effect. It wakes my eyes, pops the green of my eyes while still being subtle without ageing them. The shimmer lasts nearly all day however it’s currently summer so getting any make up to stay a few hours is a challenge if you have oily skin. You just have to work with it.
I also tried it without putting any eye oil or cream on my lids and had the same result. I should also mention I didn’t like how it felt without primer or eyeshadow underneath. Maybe the mica is too much for my skin.
I’ve noticed I need eyeshadow primer and eyeshadow underneath the make it stay. Applied on its own it doesn’t last even 5 minutes before it’s creased and almost disappears. Forget applying liquid eyeliner on top. It doesn’t adhere and glides off. It only worked with liquid eyeliner if there’s eyeshadow in powder form underneath. This is a must for a little cat eye flick.
It’s value for money. I’ve been using it since May and probably have at least 3 years of application left! I don’t use much, just a little swipe. I purchased the mini at €16.99 for 6.7g. For cheeks I haven’t tried. I don’t do highlight. It does have a slight crayon scent.
Would I recommend? Yes, it blends kinda okay. Just don’t expect it to last all day if you have oily skin (and/or use an eye skincare product underneath.). If you’re looking for a little pop of shimmer that works in most skin tones try it out!
