Calella de Parafrugell and Llafranc

For my Birthday earlier this month I had no idea what to do. If I was on my own I’d have gone to the zoo usual for a Sunday. Surprise huh?! P’s here so he hired a car for the weekend. I knew I wanted to be outside somewhere along the coast, but where?!

The weather for the weekend kept changing from rain to sunny skies. From 22C to 19C. Searching for a place to go Calella de Parafrugell came up. It looked kinda cute plus it’s part of the Cami de Ronda, a former smugglers path along most of Costa Brava’s rugged coastline which we’re gradually walking parts of. Famous for its 9 coves and painted fishing huts Calella de Parafrugell’s a former fishing village along the Costa Brava. If we’d have got there early some coves were sheltered snug to sunbath as there was no escaping the wind! I’m glad P hired a car as it was so windy the motorbike would have got battered. So windy I gave up on my cap and hair had to go up in a pony tail. The tangles later!

It’s a cute town. We only explored along the Ronda de Cami which takes you along the town’s seafront following the coves. We took few side streets looking for a bathroom (nope, patrons only!) which are typical narrow, white wash, cute courtyards of Ciutat Vellas. We stopped for tea in on the restaurants before following the path to the last cove. As much as it was nice walking along the town coves, I preferred walking above the cliff face away from people to the next cove, Llafranc. Well, another no surprise.

The last sunny spot by the marina. Perfect place to snack on homemade cereal bars soaking up the last sunlight before making our way back! The wind never let up with no direction hitting from all angles on the way back. Only a few sheltered spots back to the car, but with the sun setting, the wind made amazing hazy light.
