Weekend Friday Favourites

I hope you’re having a great weekend! I’ll get straight into this week’s Weekend Friday Favourites as it’s late Sunday evening, my eyes are slowly getting sleepy and I missed last weeks for the very same reason.

Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have made me smile this week or have caught my eye.

Tone It Up Blueberry Lemon Zest Breakfast Cake

I wasn’t too sure about this recipe as part of the their Summer Tone It Up challenge. I’m glad I made it as it’s perfect for those I’m hungry I want something quick and easy, what’s in the fridge to eat moments when I get back and as M2 with a cup of green tea. Plus it’s all vegan/plant based ingredients.

Huda Beauty

Huda Beauty launched in Spain! Whoop whoop! It launched Friday and I’m happy there’s another cruelty free brand in Sephora España. Only a select few products, but I’m happy I have more options shopping in Sephora. I used discount for the 3D Highlighter Palette in Pink Sands. I have no idea how to highlight the Instagram way, but the shades can be used as eyeshadow and are the perfect gold and silver accents I was looking for.

Pacifica Blood Orange Natural Soap

A few months ago I switched out shower gel for body soap as I’m trying to reduce my plastic waste. The bathroom’s the easiest place to start! Now I’ve worked my way through most of Pacifica’s body soap line from iherb, Tuscan Blood Orange and Brazilian Mango Grapefruit are my 2 winners. Or rather were, finding links for Weekend Friday Favourites both have been discontinued. Whhhhyyyy?! Both packed a yummy citrus punch leaving my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. All soaps are made from biodegradable vegetable oil and are glycerin based, free from parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, peanut oil and artificial colour. The only thing I don’t like is they don’t list the ingredients anywhere on the packaging or website. I know it’s to guard their own perfume blend, so I’m hoping the vegetable oil isn’t palm oil as I like orangutans more than palm oil. Yes, I know, send an email asking and asking if they’re going to bring them back.

Waves

Most days the past few weeks the waves have been FUN! Plus when the waves are super oxygenated and the water warm perfect beach hair afterwards! This year I’ve been keeping the plait I wear cycling to the beach rather than letting my hair down or putting it in a bun. This adds bonus waves later when it’s dried! I’ve noticed on calm flat sea days and when the water’s a little cooler which is perfect against the heat, not so nice beach hair afterwards.

Hibiscus Flowers

My all time favourite flowers have been in bloom at the zoo!

D*lirio Mia/Triangle Ring

A trip to El Borne, resulted in a new ring from Dlirio. Like the bracelet I got a few months ago from them, it called my name!

StarfishPush Ups and Front Raise Squats

Push ups are my nemesis but I do them anyway to work my chest and for the challenge they give! Starfish push ups target the obliques and balance. Perform a regular push up, At the top of pushing up turn into a side plank raising the top leg in one fluid movement, holding the raise leg for a second before lowing to repeat the other side.

Plate front raises squats target the quads, hamstrings, bum, shoulder, abs and back! I use a large 5kg plate which is more than enough for 10 reps at the moment. Starting with feet shoulder width apart holding the weight by hips palms neutral, squat down raising the plate to shoulder height, making sure the knees don’t pass the toes and shoulders back and down the whole time. Return to starting position lowering the weight.

Lion, It’s Hot Face

Big cats, little cats. Aj and D have been making the same face a lot recently.

After watching The True Cost the American cotton farmer mentioned how the fibres we wear could affect our skin, which got me thinking about what man made fibres could do our bodies seeing as our skin is our largest organ. I was surprised to find out they can do a lot to our bodies by absorption!

We also made the transition to soap lately! Was definitely the easiest way to avoid a few use-and-throw-away plastic bottles. I bought a Korean brand and will explore a bit when they are finished. I had never in my life used a bar of soap in the shower but I got used to it fast.

🙌🙌 less plastic. I hadn’t used one before either (maybe as a kid but can’t remember) and prefer them to shower gel. May I ask what brand you’re currently using? I’m always on the look out for new ones to try 😉

The brand is Shower Mate. Image here: http://www.cityshop.com.cn/Content/Images/Product/mega/20865610.jpg I got the Olive and green tea for C. and the Rose and cherry blossom for me. However, I bought them on a whim because they were on sale in the supermarket, the ingredients were only in Korean and Chinese and I didn’t carefully check them, so not sure if they are super good!

You find the most unique products. That soap looks divine. My husband uses an organic veggie soap and he says it’s the only thing that doesn’t make his skin break out or itch.

I guess I do! All I did was enter body soaps in iherb’s search box, scroll down until some caught my eye and then check to see if they had palm oil in. It’s a pity I think it’s now discontinued. I’ve found the soaps to be a lot more kinder to my skin and more hydrating than shower gel. May I have the name of the one your husband uses? I’m curious to check it out 🙂
