Christmas Weekend 2016

I’m happy a New Year’s starting in only a few days. I always liked odd years to even years. For me they hold more energy than evens and an odd age number always sounds younger than an even age number. Anyways I hope you had a great Christmas weekend! OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Our’s was low key. Friday afternoon I met with a friend for coffee/tea, with a run Saturday before making the zoo to say Happy Christmas to the residents. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

After opening our stocking (Thanks Mrs Christmas aka Mum! She sends them over every year) and presents Christmas morning, I squeezed in a few Tone It Up workouts before we headed to Parc del Garraf, a national park about 30 minutes away for a hike. We’d had been there a few weeks ago but got drenched on the bike going and ended up turned back. It’s a beautiful park in the mountains over looking the sea and so so peaceful as there was nobody about. Just birds, insects and the wind doing it’s thing. We’re hoping to be back exploring more trails over the New Year.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAimg_6649OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAInitially I thought this was spiders web and decided that the caterpillars needed rescuing until I realised it’s actually a caterpillar nest. No rescuing required which is good thing as I’d have freaked out if it had been a spiders nest and they came rushing out. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Boxing Day’s a holiday here like in the UK and as my gym’s open all year round I high tailed it there before it closed early. Though it could have been my usual time as many faces I see when I go were also there early getting their fix. After a stopping off at the beach on the way back to watch the waves and after lunch we set off for Jardins de Mossen Costa i Llobera or or the catus gardens on Montjuic. I’d wanted to have a cup of tea in the MiraMar Hotel lobby above the park however after exploring the park and then seeing the hotel in daylight (I’ve only ever seen in in the dark.) the idea wore off. We instead had a cup of tea at the MiraMar restaurant overlooking the port and city under toasty heat lamps (me trying not to have thoughts of the heat lamps frying my hair) watching people squished in the cable car coming in over the ports.img_6724OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADavy Jones beardOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

  1. […] missed the New Year sunrise and we hoped to go for a walk again in Parc Garraf or Montnegre i el Corredor but ended up going for a starlit walk along the Carretera de les Aigues […]

So glad you are able to get to that park 30 minutes away Natalie. Appears to have a bit of everything…mountains, trails, ocean views and very unique plants. Looks very peaceful and restorative there. Got to see the ocean for the 1st time in 12 years in New Zealand. Forgot how much I loved it.
Wishing you an absolutely wonderful 2017.. Thanks for all your support! 🙂

So you have, “liked odd years to even years”, huh? I have never heard anything like that before. …it must come from only eating plants over the holidays (!!) :p Great pics as always Nat. I was curious what those thorny bump-looking things on the trees were? I have never seen anything like that before either. Have a wonderful and safe New Years! If I could buy you an ice cream or a Twix bar I would….just to let you live a little 🙂

😃 My thoughts are probably from too much time on my hands! No eating plants whatever to do with it! And yes, I eat ice cream, plantbased ice cream. I like animals too much to eat them or the by products. You’ll be surprised at how tasty a plant based diet/lifestyle is and the energy it gives you!
No idea what the thorny tree is. It just looked cool!
      Anyways, Happy New Year!
