Anyways, Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have caught my eye or made me smile this week.

I wish I’d thought of this when I used to have a basket. It was one of the reason why I stopped using one along with it couldn’t support what I put in there and it’s easier without one.

Ever since a few weeks ago I saw a Youtube clip I can’t find of a I think a NFL player performing a wall sit with about 2 x 10kg plates on his thighs and then his coach standing onto of the plates, I’ve been torturing myself with wall sits. They’re great for isometrically building strength and endurance in the quads, hamstrings, bum, calves and abs. I can hold for about 1 minute (sin plates or someone standing on top of them) for about 3 sets sandwiched in-between circuits. I get antsy around 40-45 seconds and then have to try and think happy thoughts or distract myself from the burn! A similar video here’s of a NFL coach walking across the thighs of the whole team.

These 2 are happier now it’s getting cooler. Aj’s resuming neighbourhood watches and D’s still going between his 15 or so sleeping spots.

Spider MonkeyOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

He has to be one of the cutest zoo residents. I recently found out in the zoo magazine he’s mostly been hand raised by the keepers. His mum showed no interest in him last year, although she’s fine with his sibling born this year. This made sense of when I saw the keepers feeding them a few weeks ago. He eats solids, but was showing no interest grabbing food and walking away with handfuls like all the others. He was waiting and getting excited for milk formula. I could see the keeper preparing his bottle and at the time I thought this was because his mum had a new baby. The other monkeys look after him although I always got he impression he’s on his own a bit. His brother or sister’s old enough now he has someone to play with. Which they do while the other monkeys are trying to settle to sleep!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Loose Blueberriesimg_2679-1

I don’t know why I haven’t started doing this earlier. My local supermarket sells blueberries in punnets or loose pick your own quantity. I usually go for the punnets, however the past few weeks by the time I’ve got there the punnets are all sold out with only select your own boxes by the scales available. I’ve been selecting my own and it’s working out cheaper and they stay fresher. It’s also less plastic waste which is always a good thing.

Those wall sits are like planking’s cruel sister to me. I find both equally tough.
I wonder why the mother spider monkey didn’t bond with that baby? Funny how animals do that with their young.

Ha ha! I prefer planks any day! At least I can do variations when a wall sit, I just sit and try to to look at my stopwatch too early.
I’ve been watching the little spider monkey the last few visits after reading your comment. I think bless her, she’s not all there and that’s why the mum didn’t bond. I guess is Darwin’s survival of the fitness and nature not wanting to expend energy on one that won’t make it. She’s seems to be accepted now by the troop and will have another play mate. Another baby was born last week or the week before. I could just see it in their night quarters!

  2. I love the pics of the hibiscus flowers. I see red ones of them all over Taiwan, but I never knew their name.

It’s been awhile since I dropped by. Hope all is well!

I love them as they remind me of the Pacific Islands, the Tropics or hot weather at least!
I hope your little one’s doing okay! A friend had a baby boy in May and he’s already grown so much!
