Weekend Friday Favourites

I’m kinda in limbo with the weather. It’s going through it’s transitional phase. Teases with cold in the evening, but still a warm sunny 19-20C early afternoon. I’m still coming to terms with the shorter days, limbo how I’m feeling the moment. Being in limbo isn’t great place to be in or for me it isn’t. I feel like I need to press a restart button to break out of it. I’ve slipped back into just a 10 minute 2 hour nap when I get back in the evenings, which puts me in a feeling of being one lazy slob with everything slipping through my fingers.

The words from The War of Art constantly tease me about this. I can battle resistance in the day. When it gets dark, it’s tough. If I’m outside and it’s dark I’m fine, inside is different. I feel a massive clean out coming on, which I know will help put me back into go get ’em mood.

Anyways enough of my current state of ugh. Weekend Friday Favourites, things that have been making me smile this week or caught my eye!

AJ and DAJ post op

Box. Must sit in it. Diesel

Mr AJ’s biopsy results came back with good news. Cronic IBD irritable bowel disease which is good news to what it could have been. The operation went well and I don’t have to the official ear scratcher for a few weeks as the vet stitched up the insertion from the inside if that makes sense. As the stitches are on the inside, cats aren’t bothered about it, hence no Elizabethan collar. He’s on steroid medication for a few weeks and chicken. Which Mr D loves. That boy loves chicken. I don’t like it too much as all they do it literally sleep and eat, with Diesel having his 5 minute morning madness running around and Angelous playing at 5am. His medicine must be working as he hasn’t done that in a while. I’ve no idea the cause of the IBD. It could be an allergy the cat litter as it started 3 years ago when I switched litters. Yep, late to the party! I’ve done some research and a few others said the litter may have been the cause, so I’ll try and get the litter they liked before France.

Now I’ve wearing black leggings almost constantly, they pick up everything. Mostly Aj’s hair. I had a few different types of lint removers lying around and the only that worked was the sticky paper one. I got through about 1 roll in a week and all I could think about was how paper unfriendly it was. Especially when you peel off a new layer and end up peeling off 1 1/2 layers like toilet rolls! Looking for a replacement I found this one by Barbanita for about €5. It’s the best one yet, much more environmentally friendly and comes with a 2 year guarantee! The others I recycled.

Headstands

Headstands have never really been on my ‘yoga’ to do list. I tried them a few years ago and I had to see the osteopath later! This week during one of Kathryn Budig’s Yogaglo class headstands came up. I thought just try one against the wall. She talked the class through and I surprised myself! I can headstand! I still need the wall behind, but I don’t need to toe touch to get balance like with handstands! No photo as I follow Yogibattle’s philosophy that yoga poses shouldn’t be look at me, look what I can do (I have fallen into that trap!). Handstands I still need the wall but I’m finding I don’t need to toe touch as much to bounce back to get balance. 5/10 no toe touch.

The War Of Art, Steven PressfieldThe War of Art, Steven Pressfield

Charlotte from fromtrextotigress reviewed this a little while ago and I knew it was a book I need to read. No frills, straight talking, kick up the bum approach to defeat and unlock barriers preventing you from doing those dreams. After reading it, I got this get ’em attitude that’s lasted longer than other ‘self help’ books I’ve read. Like I said earlier, its words tease me even 2 months after reading it. Those evening crash night naps are never rejuvenating naps as I have hear words saying, overcome resistance! So that’s my November challenge: reset, resistant night naps and more yoga as I haven’t been practicing as much as I’d like.

While it does get cold enough here for socks and boots, if I wear trainers running errands, which I do, trainer socks are too cold cycling. These are perfect, invisible and are actually quite warm!

Forever21 BagForever21 Bag AW15

I found last weekend my winter bag! I’m not a fan of huge bags per-se. I prefer a small faux leather cross body bag big enough for my purse, hairbands, lip balms, phone and keys if they’re not in my coat pocket. This has just the right of chic gold hardware to stop it looking like it was the steal it was. Unfortunately all chicness goes out the window with a rucksack for water, snacks, shopping etc, but that’s the price I pay cycling everywhere. Both give me the option of being hands free which is what I prefer. And yes, I know I’ve still to cut the tag off. Lets just say, 2 phrase I’m more than competent in both Spanish and French are I have an item to return or exchange! Plus with numerous vet visits this week, I forgot!

So glad to hear Mr Aj is better!! I guess now he just needs some good R&R …and chicken haha also that book sounds very interesting…I think I might have to give it a go. And isn’t it normal to have a nap/siesta in Spain? Don’t beat yourself up for it 🙂 Have a great week Nat!

Apologies for not responding sooner! I thought I did, then it kept playing on my mind I hadn’t. Thank you for your kind Mr Aj wishes. He’s getting better! The siestas are a summer lunchtime thing. I’m working on not beating myself up, but my sleeps all messed up, which messes everything up! Anyways, enough of me, have a great week too xo

Thank you! He’s a lot perky and back to his old self in just a few days 🙂

  3. Love the Forever 21 bag! It is cute and something you can use when dressing casual or more formal.

Glad to hear your cat is on the mend and that it wasn’t too serious.

As for me, I worked hard editing my memoir this weekend and began reading the book ‘Big Magic.’

I didn’t know that about kitty litter and reactions. Glad to hear your cat is on the mend.
Thanks for the shoutout. It’s funny how the short, dark days mess with us mentally. Good luck with overcoming that resistance!

Lovely bag Nat, lots of room, like mine usually carrying the kitchen sink!!!

That’s what my rucksack is for! It’s always so liberating leaving the house with just my keys, purse, phone and lip balm in my coat pockets! Any day without a rucksack is liberating! But have to carry around water, camera and snacks somehow!
