Friday Saturday Faves

It’s been bittersweet cycling back home this week. 7.30pm and already dark. Sunday it’ll be dark an hour earlier thanks to the end of daylight saving. The mornings will be longer, but the shorter days bring the cold! The evenings are already getting chillier and before I know it, I’ll be wrapped in coats, boots, scarves and gloves. Brrr!

But that’s weeks away for now! Winter here kicks in around December. At the moment it’s warm enough in the mornings to run in shorts and a tank top. But I’ve found myself this week bring out scarves and seeing if others are starting to feel the chill and adding extra layers. Does anyone else do that? Around the change of seasons look at what others are wearing to see if it’s the right time to switch wardrobes?

A short and sweet (for me) Friday Saturday Faves. My legs running this week have felt heavy, but I’ve battling blocked sinuses, jaw and ear ache all week. I swear the 20 minutes or so I sat at the beach studying in the sea air Friday cured it! That and a big dose of Vitamin C. I woke this morning and realised the pressure’s gone! Working out was a lot easier without the pressure increase from level changes. That’s not to say today’s was easy. It was tough circuit, but I enjoyed it. Lots of TRX and the corners or L angle of the kitchen counters are great for abs raises!

Anyway’s Friday Saturday Faves:

I personally feel that in this day and age we do not need to conduct any in vivo testing. One reason why I don’t eat any meat, fish or dairy is because I don’t like that something suffered for my entertainment. If I can, I chose not to take conventual medicine. I get that so many lifesaving procedures and vaccinations trials were carried out initially on animals and I’m grateful that so many lives can be saved with these procedures. Which is why places like lab chimp retirement homes must exist. They’re for the lucky ones. They’ve given us so much for a life they should never have had in the first place. It’s only fair we give them back blue skies. We owe them that much at least. Have a tissue ready!

What’s been making you smile this week? Are you looking forward to the end of daylight saving (Europe) this weekend? Have a great weekend!

  1. Beautiful video Natalie. Amazing to learn that he U.S. is one of only countries that still do testing on chimps. Hopefully in time all testing will be outlawed.
Daylight saving is for us as well in Canada, it will mean not having to drive in the dark to work. Hopefully get some more morning bike runs in. 🙂

I’m looking forward to the day animal testing is banned. There’s no need for it now we have such advanced technology.

As for the lighter mornings, maybe for a month until it rises an hour later!
